I am setting plex up within my company to host/share videos to everyone. I’ve gone into the admin section and added our ip addresses to the list that are allowed without auth.
10.0.0.0/255.255.0.0
Yet every time I go to the plex web client on different pcs, it prompts me for a email login. Is there any way to get around this and simply take me directly to the plex media screen?
if you have the server logged into your plex account, you can access @ https://app.plex.tv/desktop > settings > network > secure connection = disable
alternatively you can go to the web admin using whatever internal ip your server is, the same url where you originally setup the plex server and library
for the web client, is in the same place @ settings > web client > general > fall back to insecure connections = always
other clients may or may not have an option for secure connections somewhere in their own options
I don’t have an option on plex web to enable/disable anything. As soon as I go to my server IP address:32400 it redirects to app.plex.tv. I need users to not have to log in and just be able to watch videos as needed.
i had this problem before myself (when creating test installs)
at that time I had conflicting info whether it was intentional or not. I thought it eventually got fixed, maybe not.
you might need to completely sign out of the server > settings > sign out
if that does not work, then either they did not fix the auth bug or its back.
after you sign out of the server, try it with a chrome incognito tab or a PC that hasn’t logged into the server before (in case it is a browser cache or cookie issue)
ok, sorry that is all I can think of, must still be broken or recently broken again.
maybe someone else will chime in if they have some other ideas
do keep in mind, that without any auth or users, that anyone on the network can do anything with the server (ie add/modify/remove libraries, enable media deletion, etc).
