When I look at the guide for PC A is says a show is scheduled to record. But when looking at the DVR schedule for PC A it is not showing that show. So why does the guide show it scheduled to record.
It is scheduled to record on PC B.
The record icon in the guide listings only signifies that this program shows up in the list of scheduled recordings. It doesn’t mean that this particular episode is going to be recorded. That depends on your recording settings for that program (New Episodes Only, New and Repeat Episodes, Record only this Channel, etc.). To verify that a particular episode is going to be recorded, you have to see it in the DVR SCHEDULE. If you don’t see it there, it is not going to be recorded because it doesn’t meet the requirements that you set up for the scheduled recordings.
Plex was set to record all new episodes of this show. I’m not sure why. But I’m trying to record the show on PC A and PC B. Most TV Shows are recording on Both. But there are a couple of show I can’t seem to record on both because the guide says it is already being recorded.
When I go to PC A to record a show the guide is set to PC B. I have to switch to PC A guide. But since it is already set to record I can’t get PC A to also record the show.
I don’t understand your setup. Do you have two Plex Media Servers running? One on PC A and one on PC B? Are these Windows PCs?
I have two windows PC both with PSM running. I have a third PC running Linux. I use the Linux box to stream to my LG TV. I have a library on the Linux box called TV Shows. Each evening I move the recorded shows from PC A to the Linux PC putting them in the TV Shows library. The moved shows maintain the folder/season/episode names that they were recorded with.
Sorry. I don’t have any experience with that kind of setup.
Do you have two (or three) names here when you click?
I have no experience with mutliple servers (PC A, PC B, Linux). But I suspect that if you have multiple “tuners”, then you need to click on this to select which tuner is recording which show.
How do you differentiate between selecting to record on PC A vs PC B?
I do click on the proper source. I usually unclick PC B. Then go to the guide for PC A. That guide says the show is going to record. If I click on DVR Schedule for PC A it does not show that the show is going to record.
Hmm. Does this always show? Perhaps the “show is set to record” icon is account-wide, not specific server/tuner.
How can I tell the difference?
Can you show the full schedule recording configuration (including basic and advanced options) from both servers for a problematic recording? For example:
As mentioned above, it’s possible there’s some selection constraint not being met.
Also, is it possible that you already have the particular show and episode already present in some library on the server in question? If so, the DVR will not record it (even if it’s not in the target library).

I can’t display these screens because the show recorded last Thursday. It won’t play again until next year. The show I’m trying to record is a new show that has not been broadcast before. I set the LogNumFiles to 10 so I could make sure I got the log information on why it didn’t record. That night the program recorded as it should. I have no idea why it worked this time.
