Guide Screen Bug

Server Version#: 1.32.3.7192
Player Version#: 9.24.0.2105
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun HDHR5-4DT

On Shield there seems to be an odd problem when you are watching a channel then go back to the program guide page.

Sometimes there is no picture in the top right corner like there normally is of the guide page showing the previous channel you were watching while you search through the guide so you are not missing what you were watching. In the below image, the red section is where the picture is sometimes missing.

Then this subsequently causes the problem of not allowing the user to select the same channel should they not which to select something different to what they were watching. If one tries to select the same channel once you are in the guide page, you are then meet with a constant never ending black screen. You then must revert back to the menu page to select another channel, so you can then go back into the guide and select the last channel you were watching.

Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix?

I also see this exact behavior on my Nvidia Shield TV at your same software levels. In general, the Live TV Picture-in-Picture (PIP) for OTA channels doesn’t work with my android Tv based Nvidia Shield, HDHomeRun tuner and Plex app. However, PIP does work w/Plex on my ROKU streamer. I reported issue with this post :

There is not much indication on this “LiveTV and DVR” forum that the Plex developers have time to address or acknowledge many of the reported bugs.

Thanks for your reply and for confirming my suspicions about this bug. So we have both reported the exact same bug and we both have not received any response from Plex staff about a timeframe for this bug to be resolved in future updates.

I don’t know about you, but I feel royally screwed over here as I too bought the Plex Pass just for the Live TV feature. Surely it can’t be too hard to fix now we have pinpointed the issue?

It is little things like this that just make me wonder how seriously Plex are taking their customers who they sucker into buying ‘Premium’ features only to pull a swift bait & switch and milk them for supporting this betaware.

Hi @ULTRA77 @mikesul

I reported this bug back in March along with another issue but got fixed. My post got ignored and closed. (Link attached) I notice now i am not the only person who has experienced this problem but i hate that it continues to happen up to the latest public versions today. It’s been going on way too long IMO.

@sa2000 and Dev team: can this problem get fixed please?

I have re-opened your forum thread

I will have a look this week at what diagnostics are available - ideally as it has been a while, should aim to get screenshots / app and server logs from current versions

@sa2000 Logs for both server and shield app are attached.

As you can see in the snapshot. When i press the UP button on the remote the app returns to EPG properly and i get a black screen in the PIP area where the channel should be displayed. It just terminates the channel i was watching. If i try to return to the channel i just shows black, pressing play does nothing. I would have to change the channel and then change back to fix it it.

I hope this can help you.
