H4, sorry something went wrong plex, SICK & TIRED of this BS

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-03-02_21-36-54.zip (2.2 MB)

I am sick and tired of BS Pex Media Server and the LACK of so called “support”
I haven’t figured out my previous problem even and now this BS problem enders the WHOLE “Plex Media Server” - Yeah right - totally USELESS.

Can’t play ANY movies now, NOT EVEN OLD OLD files with 240 resolution and MPEG audio MP3.
Time to abandon this #!¤!%%2%¤##

NO HELP WHAT SO EVER on my previous problem niether.

Is your Chromcast on the same LAN as your Plex Media Server? I ask because the connection request is showing as having come from the WAN and, as a result, bandwidth restrictions are being applied.

Mar 02, 2020 21:14:57.846 [9460] DEBUG - Request: [redacted:34194 (WAN)] GET /video/:/transcode/universal/decision?hasMDE=1&path=%2Flibrary%2Fmetadata%2F48803&mediaIndex=0&partIndex=0&protocol=http&fastSeek=1&directPlay=0&directStream=1&subtitleSize=100&audioBoost=100&location=wan&maxVideoBitrate=2000&directStreamAudio=1&mediaBufferSize=30720&session=h08lqo6c6579qscu0mau17hn&offset=0&subtitles=burn&copyts=1 (12 live) TLS GZIP Signed-in Token (Einstein69)

If that processor is what I think it is (Gen 1 Core i7) it is likely not up to the task of performing the required transcoding.

If it is on the same LAN as the server (no VLANs, second routers, VPNs) then something else is causing it to think it is remote. So have a look at the IP addresses of both the server and the Chromecast and verify that they are local to one another.

@dane22, @JasonsPlex, @anon18523487 and @duncanbeevers all tried to help you in your last thread, so it is a little unfair to write you had “no help whatsoever”.

You also wrote that it was time to leave in your last thread, so goodbye and best of luck.

However, you attached your logs so I suspect you’d rather be helped. If so, you might also like to dial down the aggression.

I have no problem with my Plex Media Server, Mi boxes, Nvidia Shields, or roku’s. Hope that helps😁

Thank you so much for your comments.
I’ll tgry thi and will get back to you.
Pretty sure that they are all in the same LAN but I’ll check it agian.

And my CPU can handle it. But you’re right about it being oooolllllllddddd :sunglasses:

ALL of these problems came for the uppdate not the reason one but the one before that.
I was watching everything AND with the Ethernet adapter too.

Is everyone all done yelling?

Is assistance requested or is the point moot?

Before I get an ear full, I will state here and now that I have very low tolerance for disrespect. A calm approach is the quickest path to a solution.

But where’s the fun in that. This is an online forum and if if one can’t be rude and obnoxious online where can most people express their self loathing and deep seeded resentment for themselves but in such a forum. And, more importantly, where are the rest of us supposed to get our laughs and thrills. After all they no longer allow c.o.c.k fights. :smiling_imp: :robot:

Maybe my baby-boomer ways are just at odds with certain other age groups?

I used to use the chromecast for playback, but ditched it for a nvidia shield and never looked back, you should be looking to direct play everything at home, makes such a difference to both video and audio quality, and avoiding these kind of head aches. It doesn’t matter so much what your media server CPU is either, as no transcoding requirements.

If your chromecast is on the same network, and plex somehow thinks it isn’t, you could try setting the LAN Networks to the correct IP/Netmask to save plex the trouble of trying to work it out, mine would be set to 192.168.1.1/24

But you TWO can say stuff like this to me!
THAT is ok, but I can’t swear to show that I’m mad???

Thank you for your help

Mad or not, I’m offering to help.
I’m also trying to cheer up the thread.

I will point out one very obvious point:

  1. The user account being used here is a FREE user
  2. FREE users don’t pay for anything.
  3. To my thinking, FREE users have no right to complain about something they get for FREE.

Shall we dispense with the posturing and solve this?

@Einstein69

I do suggest, before pointing fingers at everyone else, you fix your networking / find a better spot for your WiFI. Best practice is to use ethernet cable for the server .

The network adapter is resetting all the time.

I will also point out:

A 2008 released processor is not going to provide a good experience as a server in 32 bit mode. The first and most important problem to solve is the networking. Everything else is secondary.

Looking back at your logs it looks like the media play request is coming from your own WAN IP address. This is often a symptom of DNS rebinding protection being triggered. You may want to try configuring the client to use a different DNS server (it will likely be using your router’s built-in one by default) to mitigate this. There also may be a setting in your router where you can configure DNS rebinding protection exceptions. If so, configure one for *.plex.direct.

Barring that, enable this setting in Settings -> Networks (Show Advanced):

This will cause PMS to not apply bandwidth restrictions to requests which originate from your own WAN IP address (it will play as local). There are still other things which could cause your video to transcode, but this could eliminate at least one of them.

And as I mentioned earlier, transcoding is not something you want to do too much of with that processor. While it can handle some 1080p transcodes, 4K is going to be a non-starter for it. It will be best to eliminate potential causes of transcoding (remote quality settings being another big one, using compatible codecs being another, etc…).
