Sorry! Something went wrong! SOLVED Time to move on from PLEX

I updated my Plex Server to the latest veriosn and now I can NOT view ANY of my moives from my PC. I just get the: “Sorry! Something went wrong.”
EVERYTHING worked fine before the update. I can watch the same files from my PC IN the Plex softwere, from my PHONE in the Plex app Galaxy S8+, I can CAST to my Chromecast from other sites & CMORE, movies, sport events AND everything else.
The problem seems to be between the Plex App and the Chromecast maybee!???
I’ve DONE EVERYTHING I can think of AND MORE. Read alot of these inputs here but I find NO solution!???
WTF is Plex doing!??? Sick and tired now.

Language please!

And if you want help, we need server/player versions, as well as logs and more details about your setup

WIN10, and as I said everything worked before with the same setup. I can play the files everywhere but not like I use to do from my Samsung Galaxy S8+ used as remote or - what I can call it - to cast to Chromecast.

I am a GENIUUUUUUS

I have RESOLVED the issue.

I unplugged a device I had for making Chromecast also WIRED. I could NOt let it go and NOT to think about this ¤!“¤%”!!" problem. So I went to the back of the TV and unplugged this. And LOW AND BEHOLD … It’s WORKING now!!!

But HOW and WHAT the F does this have to do with anything!??? I had forgtten that I even had this. It has worked without a problem so far! So damn strange.

Lets see if it sticks.

I’ve tested it 2 times now and it’s working so far.

This is the cadget I was talking about.

Sadly not a Chromecast guy, so clueless here

HA! WHAT!???

You’re just moderating? :+1:

For this post yes, due to the language, while waiting for somebody using Chromecast to step in

I personally am more into QNAP and 3.Party development

Alright! I understand.

“Language” :joy: :joy: :joy:

So NOBODY from the Plex theam has even READ this!???
MAkes me mad and wanting to use some good ol language. :joy:

Would like a QNAp and a lot od Xtra TB

Forums is first of all a community thing, where the community, and that includes Plex folks, help each other.
But sometimes some threads doesn’t get visited, due to many reasons, like:

  • Bad formulated question
  • Time of the year (Day before New Years Eve)
  • Bad language

When said, I was in dialog with some Plex folks about this thread, when you yourself returned with the fix.

And note that to network interfaces on the same IP Net is never ever a good idea, without a managed switch in front of it, that can do LACP

This thread was entertaining lol. FIY Dane22 is the man! He fixes tons of people’s problems, just look at his stats before saying his just a mod;)

I read it and was discussing with Dane22 “behind the scenes”.

FYI - It’s never a good idea to have any device enabled for both wired and wireless access at the same time.

@Einstein69

That’s a pretty strange symptom. I’m especially curious why this would have changed after a server upgrade.

Chromecast devices are a little tempermental and diagnosing why one is misbehaving usually involves spelunking out to the wider network topology and the configuration of access points and other hosts on the network.

That said, I’m delighted that you discovered the source of this behavior, and I’m definitely going to keep it in mind when trying to debug other Chromecast issues.

Hello again! :sunglasses:

Sorry for the long pause in response.
Could you still please take a look att this becuase the problems are not solved 100% since we spoke. ALL the movies & shows I’ve allways been able to watch are now difficult. I always have to downgrde the quality of the original files.
I test my Network speed and it’s a solid 30-50+ Mbit/s always as you can see in the picture but when I try to watch something I ALWAYS have to go down all the time even several times. (From the ORIGINAL quality of the file).
And I’m still not enable to watch with ethernet adapter, it just doesn’t work anymore. :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob:

Do not have that

It’s just a Ethernet adapter that goes into the Chromecast usb port. Can’t enable or disable anything.

If you are using the wired connection, you need to turn off the WiFi on the CC.

Edit - Or at least disconnect from your WiFi network so it can’t actually use it.

I can’t turn off WiFi in Chromecast if that’s what you mean!?
I even chatted with chromecast support and they also told me so. All you need to do is to connect the Ethernet adapter.
I’ve tested with a program called Airflow and it works and I even get 40-60 Mbit/s speed when i test for speed.
But with Plex I ALWAYS have to change the settings MID-watching to a LOWER Mbit/s “resolution”.

Hmm I thought there was a way. Alternatively, disconnect it from your WiFi network. If it can’t create a network connection, it won’t try to use it. My guess is that if you have both connected to your network, your CC will have 2 IP addresses. The Plex app could potentially use either IP to talk to PMS and things get messy since PMS responds back to the same IP and if it switches, the data doesn’t line up and things don’t work right.

Thanks for your words and support.
I think I may have foud something! Check this out:

I says it’s for first setup but apparently NOT.
