Plex keep telling me that i need to download the media server

Hi everyone , recently i tried to install plex on a friend’s PC, the applications was already install but when i click on the button on the taskbar it redirect me on the plex web app and i can’t scan my PC to find files or see the category for my PC (even if is empty)

i tried to make a fresh uninstall & install , didn’t work , new connection with a new account , same thing , i’m don’t know what to try that’s really weird , if someone experienced something like this any help would be appreciated.

Troubleshooting steps:

1. Make sure to open the server using the local version of Plex Web when you need to complete the setup (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re on the same machine, http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web otherwise).
   The server will only show up in http://app.plex.tv/desktop after it’s been linked to your friend’s account
2. If you get the same result after accessing the server through its local IP (#1), you might have linked it to a different Plex account than the one you’re now logged in with.
   If you open the server with a different account all you’ll see is an empty version of Plex Web that gives you access to the online media sources of Plex (web shows, podcasts, live streaming, video on demand…).
