I have a NAS WD PR4100 with my all my media files and my PMS. I Want to put the PMS on my laptop which is where i had before because of little to no buffering with hd videos. But when I add the PMS to my laptop and try to add media it does not detect any internal hard drives, external hard drives or my NAS. All hard drives show up if PMS is on my NAS. Got same problem when i tried it on my Desktop. I’m not very tech savvy. Any ideas what to do.
if i understand correctly you want to move the files from your NAs onto your laptop hard drive. your laptop can not see Nas or anything which tells me that it is a permissions issue on your NAS or a firewall issue but i will suggest you give as much info as possible on the NAS and network when it works vs LAptop and network when it does not.
Not trying to move my files that would not be an issue since the I can access the NAS via my home network. I am trying to put my PMS back onto my computer where it was originally, but when i do it no longer can find any of my my hard drives, c: d: f:(external) or my the NAS on my network.
That sounds like something in the operating system is blocking plex from using local devices
Just kinda weird since I had no problems when had it on my computer originally, but know that I want it back on my computer it don’t work at least building my libraries don’t. guess i’ll have try and find out what blocking it.
Sometimes it’s best to uninstall and start plex server from scratch on pc
no you can mount the hard drives as network shares that will give them drive letters that will then be visible to PMS
unless i read OP response wrong his plex server is unable to find any drive be it local or " when i do it no longer can find any of my hard drives, c: d: f:(external) or the NAS on my network." if he can see his NAS mounting may fix it but if he can not even see his local C: drive there maybe something going on.
So two days of messing with this, not really doing anything different. firewall was not blocking the drives. Just constant download and repair of PMS log in and out a few times reboot computer a few times and all of a sudent my drives showed up and was able to map my NAS. Only been a few minutes but so far its working. Thanks for the input and trying to help.
well if you really did nothing besides reboot something tells me a device driver got corrupted and it was repaired i had this happen when a usb hub was dying. my external drives would go offline… once i bypass the hub they worked so i replaced the hub and no more issues
