Player Version#: Web
For some reason all my media isn’t available in Plex.
My NAS is mapped to drive Y: and the media in
Y:\Movies
Y:\TV Shows
Y:\Kids Movies
Aren’t available in Plex for the web, or the iOS/TVOS/Roku apps.
I’ve checked the drive is mapped and it is. The media is there and playable directly from VLC and Media Player it’s just Plex can’t access them for some reason either from the Windows 10 server running Plex or any of my other devices.
I’ve tried remapping the drive and this hasn’t fixed anything.
Plex is running on a Windows 10 Pro machine, version 19043.1110.
I can access the Y: drive from the Plex Server, it just seems to be Plex itself that can’t see the media. I can browse to it from the Y: drive and play media fine.
After any action which removes or adds a drive letter, you must stop and restart Plex server.
Is Plex server running as a system service on the Windows machine? If so, it won’t use your drive letters for file shares at all.
Is there a different username/password combo needed, if you want to access your NAS file shares from the Windows box?
If this is the case, don’t rely on Windows to store this username and password for you. It is not reliable. Instead, create the exact same username/pwd combo which you are using on Windows in the user management of the NAS and grant it access to the file shares.
I have had this occur to me as well. From what I have been able to gather, this happens if the NAS is in “sleep mode”, while the Plex Media Server starts up. I figured this after having encountered the issue, and trying to navigate via my server PC to a given folder for media in Plex. I heard my NAS spin up, and could now browse the folder. There was still no “available content” in Plex though. I then restarted the Plex Media Server process, and as expected my content was now available.
I hope you can use this information for something.
