Hardware-accelerated decoding & encoding on TrueNas

Does any version of True Nas support hardware-accelerated decoding and encoding in Plex?

Is it only Windows and Ubuntu which supports this or are there other Operating systems which do?

I am looking to rebuild a dedicated machine to run Plex Server. I currently have my storage on a Truenas box. and do not want the storage on the same box as the Plex Server. Ideally, it should be Truenase but willing to change to another OS that supports hardware-accelerated Decoding. The Plex server is currently running on Windows 10 and I am using a Quadro P2200 as my graphics card which does the decoding.

Plex does not officially support running Plex Media Server on TrueNAS. Users have gotten it to work, but it’s unsupported and could break at any time. Search for the forums for discussions about TrueNAS to see if it’s something you are willing to jump through hoops for. Here’s an example TrueNAS 12.0 - Server cannot initialize

Thanks for the update.

Does Ubuntu support Hardware-accelerated decoding and encoding? I am looking to either install Ubuntu Server or Windows server which everyone supports hardware acceleration.

From our support article, https://support.plex.tv/articles/115002178853-using-hardware-accelerated-streaming/.

I would not recommend any server OS. They are not intended for graphics work and usually require jumping through hoops to get them working.
