Server Version#:v.1.40.5.8921-836b34c27
Player Version#:v.1.40.5.8921-836b34c27
This is a Windows 10 patched to latest with non-optional. Graphics driver is 2017, but is latest reported by Windows update and Intel site for the P530 HD graphics. Processor is Xeon E3-1225 v5. Based on documentation stating Sandy Bridge+ support, this should be well within the support timeframe unless Xeon has different requirements. Playback worked for all files in previous versions of either Windows or Plex. Unclear which version of Plex or Windows updates started the issue. Certain 480P and 1080P mp4 files no longer playback. Others work fine. These are all my own captures. Files are not corrupted and playback normally in other (VLC, Windows media player) players without issue. Playback in the browser on the server also fails. Disabling only the Hardware Accelerated checkbox in the encoding section of settings restores normal playback functionality for these files in web and TV based players. There is a small chance that I checked that option when just jumping through the settings at one point and did not notice the problem since only certain files demonstrated the issue. I don’t think so, but possible. Also, forcing video encoding optimization also just hangs at zero percent completion when same setting is checked.
Mostly posting for visibility as a solution for anyone else who is having similar issues with playback of all or some files.
If anyone has comments on possible solutions, I welcome those as well! Again, this is working with non-hardware acceleration.
