They didn’t get it into the build in time.
PMS 1.32.5 now. ![]()
Please keep using what you have (roll back)
Any idea when the fix for this is actually coming out? This is really bogging down my server unnecessarily. Also, what’s the best way to rollback without losing all your metadata? I’d rather get the update.
The build of 1.32.5 started this morning. There were some last minute corrections needed. When I have a usable build, I will make it available for everyone to confirm.
Rolling back on Synology without losing Data –
DSM 6
– Uninstall the package (no data loss)
– Install lower version.
DSM 7
– Uninstall - (click yes you want to install)
– Uninstall Only (KEEP all files for future reinstallation)
– Install lower version
Last confirmed working ApolloLake HW transcoding is build 6999.
Just tested version 1.32.5.7210 with a DS218+, and hw transcoding is working again.
Thanks Chuckpa and Plex team.
Thanks, @ChuckPa - just installed build 1.32.5.7210 and HW transcoding is working like it should again. Thanks for following this up and helping everyone out - much appreciated!
Installed 1.32.5.7210 over the GDrive 1.32.5.7145 build and before that I wiped the “va-dri-linux-x86_64” folder to be as close to stock as possible. Folder is recreated and is empty now. HW acceleration is back to 0.7-0.9x speed… So something is fishy. I have some respect regarding the uninstall part tbh. Is it needed to fallback to the older version before installing the new one?

I’m on a 920+ and a few days ago my cpu suddenly went to 97% while transcoding. Since then there have been 2 updates but none of them fixed the issue. Is this a known issue?
Hardware accelerated transcoding is broken for the DS920+ and other systems with Gemini Lake CPUs (Celeron J4xxx). See: What kind of CPU does my Synology NAS have?
The current workaround is to fallback to 1.32.1.6999. Download: 1.32.2.7002 - #31 by ChuckPa.
Synology does not permit direct fallback to prior releases. You must uninstall the current version first. In Synology Package Center, choose Uninstall → Are You Sure → Uninstall Only. You can then install 1.32.1.6999.
Plex is aware of the situation and working on a fix. You can monitor the Plex Media Server announcement thread to be notified when a fix is available. Scroll to the bottom of the thread and change Normal to Watching.
Didn’t know that. Thanks for the explanation!
Sorry if I’m late to the party, but I just noticed this issue over the weekend on my DS918+. I was about to post a new topic when I saw this thread. Looking at the packages to install to fix this, it appears the only ones available are Beta, specifically, the one for DSM 7 is 1.32.5.7210-77f7f99fa, which isn’t available if I deselect the Beta option. In reading this thread, I’m getting that if I install this version, the site will no longer be on the main release track and cant be upgraded from there. Is that correct? If true, is there a timeline for a full-release version with the fix included?
You can switch between public and beta at your leisure.
The current public release was a beta release at one time.
You can also fall back to the 6999 release if desired (scroll up three posts).
Thanks for the quick reply. If I go with the Beta release, and I can then upgrade to the public release when it comes out, what was this post from earlier in the thread referring to? “The build version and number are non-standard so be aware of it when you next upgrade.”
I’d prefer to upgrade using the Beta release (yes, I know Beta usually leads to public releases, but there are also usually fixes that need to be implemented before that happens) rather than downgrade.
Install 1.32.5.7210 and enjoy hardware accelerated transcoding again.
Regarding public vs beta, you’re overthinking it.
Look at the Plex Media Server announcement thread.
1.32.4.7195 was released on June 12th as a beta release.
On June 19th it was declared the public release.
There is no upgrade from 1.32.4.7195 (beta) to 1.32.4.7195 (public). It was the exact same build. Plex just decided to release it to everyone.
The same thing will happen with 1.32.5.
1.32.5.7210 is currently beta. Plex may release additional builds or may decide to release 1.32.5.7210 as a public release. We’ll know when the announcement thread is updated (or you see a prompt in PMS Settings → General that a new release is available).
Done and done. It appears to be working now, thanks for the assistance!
