So Plex takes my money and now hardware transcoding doesn’t work. Right now the Plex software is a steaming pile of ■■■■. Basically pegs my processor no matter what I do. So I pay for Plex Pass, then they screw me. That pretty much sums it up.
Oh my god, I should have reviewed their forum first. Another steaming pile…
I see your posts. I have closed your other thread in favor of this one.
If you will explain what part of the setup process you’re at and what the specific issue is. When does it “Basically peg your processor” ?
Using Plex does have a small learning curve. Let me know how I can help.
Seriously, when does it peg? Anytime I play a movie to a Roku… doesn’t matter what I choose, direct play, I mean whatever… My Synology box used to handle it. Now I get 90+ cpu usage all the time.
and the wonderful rebuffering… lovely
Emby doesn’t seem to have this issue
I guess I chose poorly…
I’m willing to help you if you wish.
If not, you’re free to contact the billing office and cancel your Plex Pass.
Select “Plex Pass Billing” in the first box
If you would like me to help, Please go to Setting - Server - Help - Download Logs
Then attach the ZIP file it gives you here with your next post and I’ll look at it.
Before all that, did you go to Settings - Server - Transcoder and enable Hardware Acceleration or did you configure any limitations or non-automatic settings in the Roku app?
Do you even look at what you are asking people to do? I mean seriously, its so sad. That option, doesnt exist. See below
“Before all that, did you go to Settings - Server - Transcoder and enable Hardware Acceleration or did you configure any limitations or non-automatic settings in the Roku app?”
Is your server even signed into your Plex.tv account?
If it is, the option will be there for a DS918+
Check my fu7cking credentials. Don’t you have that ability, apparently you dont
So this is a fraudulent service… ???
I normally do not look at a person’s account unless there is a specific need.
Having just done so, I see your server is signed in.
I see your Plex Pass but do not know how long you’ve had it.
As for your DS918+,
- Go to http://www.plex.tv/downloads
- Select Synology
- Download the 64 bit binary (DSM 6+)
- Open Package Center
- Stop Plex
- Click Manual Install and install the SPK you just downloaded
- Open Plex in the browser again
- Now proceed to Settings - Server - Transcoder . You will see the hardware acceleration checkbox
- Also obtain a set of log files for me from Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs
- Post them and I will see what is actually happening
Do you care to retract your bullshit statement earlier.
I will not retract anything while you continue with hostility
You mean the hostility because you wouldnt support a service that I paid for…
You of course realize I have this stream and it basically shows your hostility toward me in supporting my paid service. I could post this anywhere… But that’s not what I do…
I am turning this case over to another team member.
And you know what the worse thing is… I already have that version installed…
@ktfrank@ennetran.com --> Why are you being an ASS towards the person that’s trying to help you?
Having a Plex Pass does not give you the right to be rude and obnoxious. I believe (from reading the threads on this forum) that everyone tries to be helpful and @ChuckPA has been (and is) very helpful to everyone. Try being patient and work with @ChuckPA to resolve your issue/s. Thank you. B)
@“ktfrank@ennetran.com”
I retracted my 'turn this over to another team member" statement. This will get resolved.
- You downloaded the 32 bit version from Synology. It doesn’t have Hardware Acceleration in it because it’s the 32 bit version (how they do it)
- Download the 64 bit version from the Plex downloads page and install it as I have instructed above.
- After PMS starts, Continue to the Hardware acceleration as I have instructed.
- Also please provide me the logs I have requested.
