Server Years using Plex and as of about three days ago, I no longer have any folders of my local files…I have the HD connected to Nvidia Shield, and when I open Plex it does not give me an option to create any folders…or open a specific file path…on my LG TV, it doesn’t work either…nor on my Mac web.
However on my Iphone if I can see all my movie files…very strange all…I can’t create folders and put content in them.
Sounds like a more substantial issue underneath your actual Plex Media Server.
Have you checked the files are actually visible to the server and the database is not corrupted?
With Automatically emptying the trash after a scan and automatic or periodic scans enabled, you can lose the content of your libraries… however that doesn’t seem to be the case here if you can still access your media from Plex on your iPhone (are you using the native Plex for iOS client or are you accessing Plex via mobile safari?).

I always used to use Plex Server with the Mac from Safari browser, but now it doesn’t give an Ip in the browser link…it used to. I don’t understand why that has changed. Now I can’t create folders or attach my movies.
On the Nvidia Shield I can see the folders and the HD drives are visible, but I can’t create any folders…
Let’s disentangle this a bit:
- you’re running your Plex Media Server on the Nvidia Shield
- your libraries and media is still accessible (e.g. using the Shield or Plex on your iPhone)
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by Safari on your Mac no longer giving an IP to the browser link?!
Can you access your server from Safari using one/both of the links below?
- http://app.plex.tv/desktop
- http://[Shield IP address]:32400/web
If your router assigned a new IP address to the Shield, you’ll need to make sure to use the correct IP address (an old link might no longer work in that case).
What do you mean when you say you can see the drives/folders on your Shield but can no longer create folders? From where are you testing this – sounds like this is about creating a folder on the drive itself… not what happens inside Plex?!
Yes, I am running plex server on Nvidia Shield and also on my LG Tv. The HD’s are connected to the Nvidia. And also plex from my Imac web browser. With the imac I was managing my libraries, adding titles, or covers, etc. Suddenly everything stopped showing…except the Iphone app. Plex app from Iphone works everything. perfect.
When I was using plex web before, in the web brownser I see this now: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/
Before in was an address with an IP number
You may be right about that…I had to reboot my router several times this week.
In the end I solved it by connecting the nvidia to my old router; the one from the phone operator (with the Lynksys that was bridging it doesn’t work).
