ok i see what you mean. Yeah there are two, but the one at the top of the list on the sidebar is the CLONE PC. Scrolling all the way down there is another just called “Plex” with no libraries.
Ignore that one for now. It is only a placeholder for all the ad-supported media on plex.tv.
Your user account still only has one server connected to it.
You need to add both of your servers to your account.
Repeat the procedure with the other server, do NOT copy anything between the two servers.
when you say “other server” do you mean go on the original source and remove the reg entries on that machine now?
Whichever machine you did NOT do yet.
The procedure I did was specifically for the new computer, so yeah i removed all those files like you told me to on the CLONED system.
Ok I will perform the tasks the same on the old system.
I also did not do this step btw because you told me i can do it later in the settings.
Edit the key “FriendlyServerName” and change it, to be able to distinguish the clone from the original server.
You can also add it manually, if you want. Type “String”, name it exactly as FriendlyName (capitalization exactly like this).
Ok so I removed all the files from the original server. Now do you want me to load PMS on the clone machine?
Do you want me to add the string for friendly name on the clone machine then to right?
That’s not what I meant. Only the registry items and the certificate file.
Right, thats all I removed. These items
PlexOnlineHomePlexOnlineMailPlexOnlineTokenPlexOnlineUsername- AnonymousMachineIdentifier
- MachineIdentifier
- ProcessedMachineIdentifier
and the certificate file
Now claim this server.
For adding the new string, you want me to go to New > String Value and then name it FriendlyName
Precisely. Make sure to use only letters and numbers for now, avoid any special characters.
Ok i created a registry entry named FriendlyName, but what do you want me to put into the Value Data box.
The name of the server, as you would name it.
It’s intended to distinguish your servers, if you have more than one.
It only shows my desktop that im using on the CLONE machine. So same results, nothing has changed.
Your plex user account still has only one server in it.
Did you claim both servers? Did you actually perform the procedure with both machines, and not just repeatedly on the same machine? Is one of the machines headless (i.e. without monitor and keyboard)?
Yes I did perform the exact same procedure and steps on both machines with PMS turned off on both systems.
I don’t get what you mean by “Claim” a server, but all I did was log back in using my same gmail account information thats tied to my account on both computer’s, after removing those registry entries.
I posted it already 2 times: New Claiming Requirement for Windows
I know I read it, its pretty easy to follow and I did just that. I logged back into my server. My other computer is not headless, it has a mouse and keyboard as well. I removed the reg entries from the CLONE system (thats the new PC i built that has my plex data copied) and I also did the same for the original system (older Computer). Then I logged back in and it prompted me to put in my user account information and password and thats it.
