Since the last update, I have not been able to view folders in my library in the web app. In the past, I have relied on this feature heavily for building playlists. In reviewing the forums, it appears many others also have expressed concern about this missing feature. I’m not a technical person, but I always thought that updates were supposed to improve applications, not seriously handicap them. If the feature has been removed, can you explain why this was done? As a lifetime subscriber, I would insist that you reinstate it.
Damn, I think the folders are gone. Why? This will kill my DVD library :s
In an earlier update I thought the folders were gone, but they was only hide in a another menu option. But I can’t find it there now. Am I blind or is the folder option really gone?
Since posting, I’ve discovered that clicking the media server icon launches a version of the web app that allows you to view by folder, and select movies within for playlists, etc. This appears to be a new feature. I haven’t seen this before. Still not sure why it was removed from the main web app, as it caused me a great deal of confusion and frustration. But at least I can continue to use Plex mostly in the way I always have.

That means the version of Plex Web on your server is an older version than that on app.plex.tv. Once your server updates to the version of Plex Web currently used on plex.tv, you will no longer have that option locally either. Interestingly though, you can still view TV show libraries in folder view. Just not movie libraries.
I have very little confidence that this will be fixed. When Plex updated the web interface to ~v3, they removed the disc-number subheadings from music libraries and have thus far refused to restore them. So I wouldn’t exactly hold my breath to wait for the return of movies’ folder view.
It is simply a bug in the current ‘hosted’ web app.
It will be replaced shortly with a repaired version.
