Has there ever been a fix/answer for why deleting a library kills the server/kicks everyone off for like 10 minutes?

has there ever been a fix/answer for why ‘deleting a library’ kills the server/kicks everyone off for like 5 minutes?

it’s been this way for YEARS and years of servers… beta’s and non beta’s : ) : (

i try to never do it till like 4am and everyone’s asleep/off… but WHY must it be this way?

It optimizes the database which causes a lock. Nothing else can access or make changes to the db while it’s locked which means Plex “hangs” until the optimize is complete.

How often are you deleting DBs?

like almost never… i mean i optimize the databases and clean bundles like once a week at 4am…

but i like almost never delete libraries or databases : ) :frowning:

it’s gotten to the point now though… where if i ADD a library… it locks people out/boots people off for like half an hour : (

can that possibly be what’s expected?

(granted my library is incredibly large… like 10 times what you could possibly imagine) : ) : (

If there were 100’s of items in the library and you have a low powered server this would be expected.

It’s likely just slow due to size / performance of your system. Maybe look as at adding or removing libraries during off hours. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

i mean i have the most maxed out system possible… can transcode 20 films at once… but adding or deleting a library on plex… brings the machine to its knees like nunayour business/totally locks it up/boots everyone off : ) : (

emby doesn’t have this problem/does this… just seems like a design flaw somewhere…

People can only guess since you haven’t provided debug logs from when the library was deleted.
