The updated app is unfortunately broken on my TV. While the new UI design looks fine at first glance, the actual usability is very poor. Navigation feels slow, unintuitive, and buggy. For example:
I can’t simply use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to move between library items and the menu bar.
I don’t want “On Demand” cluttering my menu bar, yet I can’t remove it.
The vertical toolbar on the left isn’t accessible at all.
Why add a thumbnail for the show on every season? A simple button by Rate & Review would suffice. Better yet, use the show logo.
Inside my library, I can only select Watch, with no other useful options.
The only positive is that I can still watch videos, but overall this experience is frustrating and a step backward. I’d very much prefer to revert to the previous version, which worked properly.
I came here specifically to complain about this. I have no idea what they were thinking. All my continue watching things used to be in one section, now it’s split up between my libraries. And instead I automatically see all this stuff on home page that is completely useless to me, it’s nothing I would want to watch and it’s very slow navigating through all of it.
I’m already disappointed that communication has to be done through a forum instead of with an actual support team via chat, I’m probably cancelling my Plex pass tonight because I wouldn’t use this interface if it was free.
This unasked for “update” is a disaster. I do not want “Live” or “Discover” or Rentals or Watchlist. I want the menu back in the left column as it has been for the past decade, rather than a menu across the top which is a pain to navigate to. Someone needs to post how to revert to the previous UI. If I wanted to have this sort of crap occur, I would still be using Windows Media Server.
I have also discovered my Roku Remote will not work properly. It locks up after a few movements, and will not start the programs I want to watch. I reset the Roku, and that did nothing to fix the issue. Another ringing endorsement for un-warranted UI “fixes”
Can Anyone say if I switch to a Linux or Mac Plex server it will be this awful nonsense? I had been considering moving to Linux to get rid of the nagging for Windows 11 updates (Another terrible waste of effort by the morons in Redmond).
I’m adding my voice to the disdain and disgust at the new, not-asked-for, TERRIBLE interface update. You’ve taken a simple, quick interface and buried once quickly accessed features and now require much more navigation than before. The ONLY reason I have Plex is for my personal library. To bury that inside the programming interface ABSOLUTELY RUINS THE USER EXPERIENCE FOR ME. Plex now stinks.
This is the same problem that killed the xbox console when the xbox one came out with all the features the gamer did not ask for. and they shot themselfs in the foot for it. no one i know even owns any new xbox consoles and had sold all there xbones because of a bad feature update like this one.

There is nothing I can say that hasn’t been said. This is complete trash. Along with it being trash, my remote doesn’t work inside Plex. I have to keep restarting and hope I can get to something I want to no play.
Another step in the wrong direction coming from an 11 year. plex pass user.
honestly, if they don’t address this soon, it’s essentially unusable for me. Therefore, sad to say, after so many LOYAL years, it might be time to move on! Anyone know of any decent alternative programs?
Jellyfin and Emby are the two competitors. Emby for a paid for solution, and Jellyfin for the free one. It’s easy enough to get Jellyfin working. Just installed it, set it up, and pointed it at the same library that I used for Plex. It works without any BS.
This is absolute complete garbage. It does not work, you can’t even access the settings menu, it freezes up when you try to play an episode of a show, you click on things and nothing happens. Is there no way to disable this or revert to an older version of the app? I’ve restarted the roku ultra, restarted the app, uninstalled the app and it still has the same issues, it literally will not function. The interface looks nice but everything is several clicks further away and many things just do not work - period.
