I recently received the email notification that Plex is now offering the DVR service to plex pass members. I am a plex pass member and I have an HDTV antena and a digital tuner from hauppauge. It’s the one for Xbox one. I have tested the antena on one of my tvs. It works. I have tested the digital tuner with the antena on my PC using the Wintv8 application. That works too. However, when I go to set up a new dvr in the plex settings, it can’t find my digital tuner device. I read somewhere on the FAQ plex page that the Wintv8 software may interfere with Plex’s ability to tune channels. But plex doesn’t recognize the device at all. I tried to follow the FAQ’s advice and only load the device drivers instead of the entire software package, but it seems as though the wintv8 install is a bundled install and won’t let you only download the drivers. Please advise what next steps I should take. Thank you.
What is your Plex Server version?
It’s the latest version. I checked for updates before installing the tuner and it said I was up to date.

You need 1.7.2. Get the latest from the downloads page on this website and install it manually.

well to add to this thread as I’m in the same or at worse simular situation
I’m running Windows 10 and have the internal dual tuner from Hauppage the WinTV HVR-2215 tuner
and am running Plex Server Version 1.7.2.3878 and have the full plexpass account
and I too have the problem where it can’t find my digital tuner device
just keeps looking after I click setup plex dvr

and that’s all I get too , any ideas any one ??
@“wodahs krad” Your situation is not really similar, this user needed to upgrade to the current version of the software to have their tuner recognized.
Your tuner appears to not be on the List of Supported DVR Devices page which is very likely why it isn’t found.
In the future, please create your own thread for new issues so that other peoples threads can stay focused and on topic.
Hi, I tried to manually download the latest for Windows from the download page, which provided 1.5.6.3790 (Win7 SP1 or later, dated May 9, 2017) … installed that and when I tried to set up DVR, Plex doesn’t seem to find my device – at least it’s been spinning for the last 5 mins. I’m using a Hauppage WinTV-dualHD, and confirmed it was listed in the supported devices page, my OS is Win10 Home 64-bit. How do I get 1.7.2, if that’s what I really need?

The WinTV-quadHD is already supported by the 1.7.3 release. It was removed from the supported tuners list because they found that there were a couple variants of the tuner model number. But this has been resolved; they just need to add it back to the list. It’s the card I’m using and, from early use, all appears well with it.
