I have the nVidia Shield and a Hauppauge winTV-DualHD tuner. When I try and set up the Plex LiveTV & DVR section, my tuner isn’t recognised ( even though it’s approved ). The pop-up just says looking for compatible devices and that’s it…nothing found.
Does the tuner need setting up in any way before I attach it to the Shield ?
Can you get it to work with Live Channels. You may want to try rebooting your Shield.
Sadly I have tried a factory reset and installing Haystack and Sideloader, but Live Channels doesn’t accept the winTV as a source.
I’m assuming it needs to be configured first, before I plug it into my Shield.
It really shouldn’t need to be configured. Do you have all the latest firmware updates on the shield and the latest version of live channels? I just found posts for official support for it in Live channels so i am really not sure what the problem is you are having… Could the USB port be defective. Can you try the wintv dual on a windows box?
Mine was recognized immediately on my Shield TV via Plex. That said, the files this will create are too big for the Shield TV to transcode (at least mine says my device isn’t powerful enough to transcode), so I’m switching to a PC solution.

Everything is bang up to date and sadly I don’t have a Windows machine to hand.
I’ve got an external drive plugged in as well and that works in both ports, so I’m happy the USB is fine.
I’ll see if I can get Mac drivers for the winTV and try it on my laptop.
Just tried it in my Intel NUC ( forgot I had that running as another Plex server ) and it’s picked up instantly. Looks like my shield is faulty.
I think there is a config option to change what the usb port mode is. Have you checked settings for that?
