Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2255 Not finding channels in plex

i have installed latest drivers, tried installing wintv and then uninstalling it, making sure to clean registry to fully get rid of it, both ways no channels found when scanning. plex recognizes the pcie tv card but find no channels. I know its not signal related it works fine on my tv. i am not the only one this exact model t=seems to have issues with plex. any solutions?
