I’m finally trying to see if the XB1 can be my media box with the latest version of Plex 2.x and I’m having some trouble with my Harmony remote. I have an activity setup that wakes up the XB1 and changes the input on my receiver and whatnot and all that works. It also lets me use the arrow keys to navigate and launch an app, including Plex.
Once in Plex I’m able to navigate just fine and I can hit play on an item with no issue. However nothing else seems to work. I can’t stop/FFWD/RWD/change subtitle, etc. I went into the Harmony app and all the buttons seem to be mapped correctly. What am I doing wrong here?? Is there a better way of doing this without buying the media remote or is that pretty much it??
As for other questions, I know subtitles are finally supported without transcoding and that does indeed work, but what about audio support? DTS? How to the Bitstream audio options on the XB1 used or are they NOT used with regards to Plex?
I have similar issues with the remote. The main one I’ve noticed is that pause doesn’t work, but play does. It’s probably just that the app is a little buggy right now. The devs seem to be gathering up all the bugs and hopefully we’ll see another bug squashing release soon.

Pause works for me. But that and play are it! So you’re saying that it should work OOB but doesn’t for some reason. Yes?
Yes, it should work. Best thing is for us to keep reporting the bugs so the devs can fix. Plus, the Harmony remote buttons are identical to the official Xbox one remote, so if it isn’t working on Harmony that it isn’t working on the Xbox remote. That’s good cause it means it’ll get fixed…eventually.
One thought though, for an immediate fix you might want to try a cold boot…hold down the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds to reboot. Maybe it’s just glitchy now and kind of needs a reset. I think I’ll try that too.
Definitely some odd behavior going on here. I got pause to work, but no FW/RW. I can’t even find FW/RW on the screen menu. There’s an icon that looks like FW/RW, but it actually skips instead.
@Moussa Can we get some help with this one? FW/RW seem to be missing completely both from the remote and on-screen. And Stop/Change subtitles aren’t working from the remote.

FF/RW aren’t present in the app currently. Could you elaborate on what you mean by stop/change subtitles aren’t working from the remote?
For me the stop button doesn’t work at all with any media. I have to hit exit instead. As for subtitles, not sure what he meant but for me I see no way to change a subtitle once playing a movie. Not sure which button to push for that, but I tried all I can think of and nothing works.
Looking into the stop button issue but as a workaround for now the back button should perform the same function. As for subtitles, if you bring up the OSD during playback you can select the settings icon (the leftmost icon) and from that menu you can change quality/audio/subtitle tracks.

Sorry, scratch the subtitles. Thought there was a remote command I didn’t know about for subtitles.

Thanks @Moussa. That works. Can you shed any light on my question about DTS and the bitstream settings on the XB1?

We’re working on supporting bitstreaming, but I don’t have an ETA for you at the moment.
Well I’ve been patient thus far wanting to make the XB1 my media hub so I can wait a little longer. It’s far more usable now though. Thanks for that!
I have one off the subject question: How the heck to I use Plex without having to sign into the XB1 first? Or will it be usable in the event that Live is down or whatever? Sorry for the dumb question.

You sure that’s how it works? I haven’t been an XBL subscriber for years now and my Plex works – or does it rely on those servers even without auth?
The requirement is that when you goto open the app the xbl account needs to be logged in. So if you were already had plex open when the XBL servers went down you were fine, but if you tried to open it you would get the need to sign into xbox live message. (Not sure if this ever changed with UWP, but that was how it was with the old plex app)
