Hey guys. Having one of those typical naming snaffus here…
I am organising all the anime that I have on my server. I went and got myself the nyanimelist.net agent and the absolute series scanner.
Now the issue I am facing is the way I have things set up would be like this… lets take Dragon Ball for example…
I have a main DragonBall folder, in it is a Dragon Ball folder and a Dragon Ball Super folder. Then these are split into seasons then files.
Now when the Plex scans and adds them, they all come up under the same show heading (this time around it is DBS) and instead of being split up, episode 1 of Dragon Ball ep 1 of Super are showing as 2 versions of the same episode.
Now is it that I cant have then in the encompassing DragonBall folder (as this is how I using sort my folder structure with anime/tv shows that have several variations)???
Do I have to take the out and have them separated among all the other anime?
They need to be in separate directories.
DragonBall
DragonBall Super
Now you could also do this…
TV Shows
Movies
Dragonball (same level as TV Shows)
Inside Dragonball: Dragonball & Dragonball Super are directories. Then you would add Dragonball as a media location in your plex library.
So extending that thought :
TV Shows
Movies
Anime
Sorted Anime
And inside Sorted Anime you have folders for each show, Dragonball, Gundam
And inside each sorted show, you have Dragonball, Dragonball Super, Gundam 00, Gundam Wing
And then in Plex you would add “Sorted Anime > Dragonball” and “Sorted Anime > Gundam” folders as media locations. Seems too messy for my taste though.
Yeah… that does seem a bit of a pain. Well it is something to think about.
Cheers
Also I am having issues with some of the shows getting the metadata for the actual show but nothing for the individual episodes.
Also some are only getting a poster or 2 and no banner or background pics. This pic issue I am not too worried about, as I can just get some pics off the net. Thing is… if I add the pics I have downloaded does the Plex make copies somewhere else so I can delete them? Or does it just make a pointer to those files?
Further to my issue of anime naming I have come across an anime, namely Berserk, that was released back in 1997. Last year they released a new series by the same name and I was wondering if there was a way to separate the tow as they automatically get combined and the episodes of each show are shown as different versions of the same episode.
I tried giving the folders the year they were made in the title, but no dice.
Sorry to necro a dead topic, but I have the EXACT issue with Berserk that you described. Did you ever find a workaround for this?
Im having a issue where it recognizes the 1997 berserk and the 2016 one but will not let me put in the 2017 season
