Hey guys, i’m new here and hopefully i’m just doing something wrong here and thats why my tv has trouble connecting to my pc plex server. I’m getting that “please verify that the server is running and has a network connection” error. I believe ther server is setup correctly. I can easily stream the folders i’v set up from my PC on the desktop app. I’v also tried streaming my pc content from my android phone via the plex app, and that is also working perfectly. Only the tv is causing problems for me. When i click on the more tab on the tv i can see the plex tab and also my computer name, but when i try to connect to it, i aways get that error.
My lg cx is on a wireless connection, and my computer is on cable. Connection goes like this: isp modem - wrt160nl router directly to the pc. The tv is connected via the isp modem wifi. My router acts as a access point only, so dhcp is disabled. I’m on the same subnet as the isp modem. Under network, the secure connection is set as prefered. I don’t really know what else to check here, hopefully you guys can help me out.
I gather you have opted in for Preview version of WebOS app. If so in the left menu, scroll to settings/ Manual Server and enter your Server LAN IP address for Wifi. Port should already read 32400
Restart the TV
You may also need to alter your Advanced settings.
Allow insecure connections - On local Network
Insecure connections - Only on Local network
Thank you for helping out. Seems that setting up the ip manually did the trick I was wondering tho. Should plex see all the content, no matter what type of file it is. I’v got a certain x265 .mkv file with dolby atmos info on there and the plex it seems, cannot find that file. I see everything else on that drive.
