Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: client 5.1.2 platform 4.8.0
The issue is that I cannot connect to Plex Server until I change the player setting “Allow Insecure Connections” from “On same network as server” to “Always”. Both server and tv is in the same network, static IPs and Plex Server is running in official docker container. Server IP and port is entered in “Manual Servers” in client. Server IP is 192.168.178.3.
For me it looks like client thinks that server and client is not in the same network. Any solution to this?
This all sounds fine to me so far. Are the Plex server and the client both connecting to the same router directly, or is one on a switch or the TV connecting over a wireless extender, for example.
Yes the router comes from the ISP. I don’t have wireless extender, but TV is connected though separate router with wifi to the same network (not though nat) and I disabled wifi on the ISP router because it was not stable.
I have this exact same issue.
Web os early access app will not connect to the server.
The service is viewable, I am logged in. But will not connect to server.
All the above was tried. Reset of app was tried.
Only option was to leave early access. Then with old app or connects straight away.
And FYI. I have 2 other clients on Apple TVs. No issues with them.
THIS IS NOT LIMITED TO 1 USER. THIS IS A GLOBAL BUG with early access app for LG WebOS
Oh you are right. I had early access enabled somehow, after disabling it I can connect with the “Allow Insecure Connections” setting set to “On same network as server”. Thank you garyoz for the solution!
[SOLVED] What I can see though is that Client was on the “Early Access” track, and as soon as I opted out of that I was able to get a connection to my server now using client version 4.29.9!
I have no recollection of being prompted about entering the “early access” track I “just” went to the LG App Store and searched for “Plex”…
I think that the root cause could be that the early access version is presented in the LG app store…? (thus an opt-out, not opt-in choice…!)
WHAT TO DO
When reverting to the “production version” I was prompted “to tell it in the forums” as the reason was “to avoid a bug” (I forgot the correct wording).
As this thread already exists I am unsure of what the best action for me is!
Do I open a new issue with that precise statement
OR does this thread already have the attentions of the right people capable of debugging further and hopefully fix the issue
This is only my post #2, so I am not yet familiar with the good-practices for how to support Plex in the best way…!
Using the Early access version I did these tests before fixing the problem by reverting to vPROD:
NB.: IPv6 is already disabled on the TV (all logging shows IPv4 communication so I don’t think IPv6 is in scope…)
Claimed the server
Configured the Server -> Network -> Secure connections = Preferred
Tested with the following client setting (client fails to connect):
Advanced -> Allow Insecure Connections = Never
Advanced -> Prefer Insecure Connections = Never
