This problem has been happening for 6 months or more, Windows MC and Linux MC.
about 3 months ago, I started the decommissioning of a Linux (Ubuntu 22.04.1) host because of this problem. For one title, I was unable to select, upload, or replace a poster. Always blank.
That server had been in service for over a year using various PLEX Media Server versions. Having lost a data drive, and the problems with the missing labels, I moved my main PLEX instance to a Windows Server 2019 System, installing the Windows Version of Plex Media server. I recreated my libraries on that box, and was happy to see all items that could be identified as having posters applied.
At this moment, I am running 2 PLEX servers, for this discussion PLEX and PLEX_BACKUP… Both are running on Windows Server 2019, and are running the latest PLEX Pass release. I have 2 libraries on PLEX and 3 libraries on PLEX_BACKUP, along with the DVR there.
The first problem I ran into is when I am grouping my media in my movies library, I often find the initially selected poster to be inadequate, and I go into the Edit - Poster section, I select a poster from the top of the list, I save it and the poster comes up blank. When I return to the poster selection popup, the checked poster is also blank.
The only thing that works reliably for me is to navigate to the bottom of the list of posters and select from that , but it is not always the poster that I want, and at very rare times I have no poster at all that works.
I come in this morning, and note that on my television library on PLEX (the older of the two servers) and I am finding that like 15 of the show posters are blank, and with several of them I tried to fix, no poster in the popup would replace the blank poster.
I deleted and replaced that library today, and noted that the posters were all different than the other server, and for some, when I am trying to change the show and season posters, I am in the same situation, where I try to select a poster, and those at the top of the list all come up blank.
I have tried everything, including Optimizing the DB, Cleaning Bundles, Refreshing metadata, up to deleting and re-creating the libraries, nothing works.
