HD HomeRun Connect Duo 2 - No longer working with Plex Media Server

I recently installed an HD HomeRun Connect Duo 2 and had it working with my Plex Media Server (version 1.18.2.2058) running on a Mac mini using OX 10 El Capitan Version 10.11. After moving my Moho Supreme Pro antenna to try and improve the signal quality of a couple of channels, I’m no longer able to watch live TV on the ATV4.

When I open the Plex app on ATV4, I get a message that says, my PMS is not available however, I had just confirmed the PMS was logged in and “remote access” was running fine too. When I go back to my PMS it now shows my server is no longer online. When I log back into the server, I get a message, "The Server “my server name” does not allow secure connections, so I click the button “ALLOW INSECURE CONNECTIONS”, I get another message that says, “Safari Can’t Connect to the Server”. I then have to open a new window in Safari, log into the PMS and this whole exercise repeats itself.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this issue?

Thank you in advance.

If the Plex Media Server crashes when you attempt to access Live TV & DVR functionality on the client, it will likely be corrected by upgrading to the latest beta:

The PMS shows that it’s the latest version 1.18.2.2058, Here’s some additional information about the Live TV & DVR issue:

  1. I’m able to play live TV using Apple TV 4 when I select the channel in the “On Right Now” screen.
  2. The Plex mobile app on my iPhone also works to play live TV if I select the channel in the “One Right Now” screen.

The live TV issue appears to be related to the live TV “guide”. When I select it, on the ATV4 Plex app, PMS says it’s not available.

I wonder if I need to remove PMS and reinstall it on my Mac mini?

Thanks, philips,

Just downloaded the new Beta version of PMS. I’ll add a new post if that resolves the Live TV & DVR issue.

Quick question…do i need to uninstall PMS from my Mac mini before I install the Beta version? Is there a link you could share with me with instructions for doing that? I downloaded the Beta version and when I clicked on it, a message said it could automatically move it to the applications folder, but when I opened the Plex app, it still shows the current version (1.18.2.2058) and not the Beta (1.18.3.2129).

No uninstall is required; just place the new Plex Media Server.app in your Applications folder (overwriting the old one). Stop Plex Media Server before doing so and start it afterward.

Thank you, philipsw. I’ll do that today and post the results here.

The new beta version fixed the Live TV & DVR issue. Thank you, philipsw for the instructions and for letting me know about the new PMS beta version.

No problem, glad it worked for you.
