HDHomeRun DUAL 101A2C68 with Live TV & DVR working?

Anyone have one of the original HDHomeRun DUAL 101A2C68 and have it working with PLEX yet?

Before I start the process of buying an OTA antenna and hooking everything up I wanted to find out if anyone has had any luck yet? From all I have searched and read here most have given up and had to purchase a newer model to get it to work. I am in Jardín Antioquía Colombia so I would really only be able to get 6 channels here so not really worth the cost of a new box and getting it down to me here in Colombia so thus the post.

Thanks for feedback from anyone with this older tuner.

The 101A2C68 is just your device identifier

I have an old HDHomeRun Dual and it is network connected by managed by the Plex Tuner Service process which is part of Plex Media Server. I just use it for testing and it does work.

It identifies itself as HDHR3-EU for me (European version)

You can send this request to the device IP address in a browser and get the device details

Is what I get for a response from the HDHomeRun

For my Plex Media Server I am running that on my Shield TV

So do you think this would work for me with Plex here in Colombia?

Well it is an old model and there may be some issues
The one I have also identifies itself as Legacy

I suggest you try it

Is there a way to try it with out having to buy an HDTV outdoor antenna and running a coax cable to it as I am in the middle of the Andes mountains and signal can only be had here with an antenna mounted high up on my second story roof and would be a pain to go through the hassle and money just for it not to work.

There are two aspects to this

  1. How good the signal level / quality for tuning the channels
  2. How well the device operates with Plex Media Server

For the latter - you could take the device and a laptop to try Plex Media Server to someone you know in an area with good OTA reception and has an antenna and try it out there

For the signal level / quality and tuning channels, you will not know until you try it in your location

I have a Dual. Model is HDHR3-US.

My experience is that it works very well with the Roku client, but it’s very unreliable when using Plex’s web app.

I have posted in your thread here - Live TV viewing works about 10% of the time - #24 by sa2000 - just to eliminate one potential cause

We have launched a new Live TV on Plex feature today that does not need a tuner

Thank you for the heads up! Just gave it a test drive on my Laptop and my Shield TV and for the most part it works. I get 71 free channels, only 2 are in español… AFV Espanol, which is mostly English with español subtitles and the other is Latin X Pop for music. The other 69 Channels do not have options for subtitles. Any plans for future updates to add more español channels or subtitles in español?
