HDHomeRun Extend Transcoder Enhancement

Short Version: Ability to define HDHomeRun Extend Transcoder Quality based on the stream requester (Local viewer live, Remote viewer live, or Plex DVR/Recording).

Long Version:
Could we get more granular control of how Plex uses the built-in transcoder of the HDHomeRun Extend?
I have the HDHomeRun Extend added into my Plex Server, where I can define the ‘Transcoder Quality’, which as a follow-up, has a note stating: “The quality of the transcoding used when recording. Selecting original format may result in very large files.”. This sort of implies that the transcoder is only used when recording content, not when streaming live (clarification here would be nice, but I think my details below indicate it’s used for all streams from the HDHomeRun).

What I’m actually aiming for though, is being able to set a transcode profile for local vs. remote streaming.
When I’m at home, having the full quality stream from the HDHomeRun device is perfectly fine, but if I’m remote and want to pull up a Live TV stream, I’d like to have it use the embedded transcoder of the HDHomeRun device to reduce the quality of the stream rather than it using the Plex Server as the transcoder.
Right now I work around this by hopping in to the Plex Server settings and modifying the transcoder quality for the HDHomeRun, which then reduces the load on the Plex transcoder, which is still invoked for the audio stream. Then I can stream remotely fine.

Having three options, transcoder quality for Live Local, Live Remote, and Recordings would be ideal.
Obviously there are inherent concerns here with when people go to access the stream - what if someone wants to view a Live Stream of something they’re also recording? In that case, a note that the Recording setting takes preference (or a configurable preference) would be a good way to close that concern. Or what if they’re trying to access a Live Stream Remotely of something that’s also being recorded? What about an option to use the second tuner in the HDHomeRun if it’s available for the Live Stream, and leave the first tuner alone for recording it in the intended Recording Quality.

Thanks for reading!

Definitely +1 this, as I am considering switching from Quattro to Extend.

+1. Specifically I want to watch Live TV at “Original Format” or “Highest Quality” transcoding from my HDHomeRun Extend, but for recordings to be at “High Quality (30fps limit)”.

I mostly watch sports when using Plex for live TV, and often on a projector, so I want the best picture possible. Sports just don’t look good at anything less. Recordings for me are typically shows that I’m ok with at slightly lower resolution, and I want the resulting smaller file size on disk. I currently manually switch this setting as needed.
