I have a new Plex Pass setup and am getting very poor - not usable - Live TV streaming however Movie streaming is pretty good. Locally Live TV is fine. I have a new PC build running my PMS, latest version, i5 9400, 16gb ram, SSD, gigabit switch to a Motorola cable modem, 200/20 service…nothing else runs on this PC, its dedicated for Plex at this time. I’ve played around with most of the settings on the client side (ios) and the server side but I am not making any progress. I would appreciate some help going forward. Thanks!
Are you referring to the new free Live TV and Movie service that Plex recently announced? If so this is a new service and I would bet it would take a few months before they get it working well (like everything they do, introduce it first, make it work later).
I have both the HDHomeRun Prime (CableTV) and the HD HomeRun Connect (OTA). The quality on both is excellent (live or DVR).
No sir, I am referring to streaming from my HDHomeRun device. I get excellent results in my home but when I try to stream to my phone remotely the quality is not usable, however streaming movies from Plex to my phone remotely works very well. I would be curious as to what your transcoder settings are, Thx
One additional observation is that when I start the stream the TV stream looks fine, but in about 10 seconds it gets worse and keeps getting worse till it starts lagging and pixelates.
I also notice that my Activity Bandwidth meter continuously spikes between 0 and 5Mbps (I am currently limiting remote to 2Mbps for testing) when streaming Live TV and when streaming a Movie there are gaps between the spikes. I am interpreting this as buffering. If I am interpreting this correctly I am buffering the Movie stream because I have this content stored on my server and there is no buffering on the Live TV because that content is coming from the HDHomeRun in real time.
