If you have the premium I believe you get one week.

Download the C# app and give it a whirl it hurts nothing could save a bit.

The program will tell you if it can’t get the extended listing, it’s not like the old one by tv head

I’ll give it a look. I certainly would like this sorted out by Plex.

The epg123 xmltv has issues with flagging tv shows as movies and it seems yours doesn’t have that problem. Thanks again for providing this as a workaround.

Yeah, getting that to work was painful  Had to roll the IMDB into the app.

I’ve been hearing grumbles about how Plex is handling XMLTV. Before I actually start some science experiments, how in the world can Plex be mistaking tv shows as movies?

Okay, well I’m probably not going to invest in Plex just to find out how they handle XMLTV… but a quick search on the forums here pointed me in the right direction.

Plex will treat any program that does not have an episode-num element as being a movie. Since your news programs generally have generic descriptions, there is no episode number or anything for me to populate it with. I can have EPG123 add an entry with just the air date to satisfy everyone and not have a series marked as a movie in Plex.

@garyan2 - that would be awesome!!

Fantastic! Thanks for the support!

It may be possible in the future to support both OTA and cable guides. I have no info on HDHR’s Premium service since it is neither OTA or cable.

Have you checked to see if these channels work, even with the wrong EPG? I would have expected HDHR to DRM these streams.

Yes, the channels work with the wrong EPG data, but Plex can allow some customization so that we can:

  1. Select multiple guides in the DVR settings, even if they are in different locations (zip code)
  2. Allow us to map channels to information from any of the guides selected
  3. Allow us to customize channel numbers and/or channel sorting. It doesn’t matter what the channel number is as long as the guide data gets mapped properly.

I recently started test driving Plex to see if it is a good replacement for my current Emby Server. They have these very customizations that work out great in these situations. They even allow the channel icons to be changed too. I hope this helps!

Thanks. There have been several requests similar to what you’ve described. Please vote for your requests.

Thanks! I am, however, at my voting limit. The first request you linked is not exactly what I am talking about, but the development effort might result in the same thing…maybe.

Regardless of what we vote on it should be noted that the DVR EPG needs work to accommodate these requests. I know I am solely paying for Plex Pass for the DVR functionality and I would venture to guess that many others are doing the same thing.

Just found that you can already sort of use the HD Premium feature. You will need to delete and recreate your DVR but choose the cable option this time. Then remap the local channels to their cable equivalent.

A Plex youtuber has created a video to explain how he did it.

Thanks. I already know about this hack. What we need is full support for multiple sources from Plex. OTA channels don’t all have mapping to local cable company’s channels. We end up with channels we can catch OTA but no guide data.

This is why some of us are using epg123 to combine the guide data ourselves. This is not without problem though. First, many tv programs are reported as movies by Plex. Second, the guide data is not free as you must have a Schedules Direct account to get the data ($25 a year). We already have Plex that has access to all the guide data we need, but we can’t use it because it only pulls from one source.

A new version of EPG123 has just been released which should address the issue of Plex marking generic episodes as movies.

Also added a new feature to create custom lineups (manually at the moment) which sounds like it would be a great help with getting control of your Plex guide.

Yeah this really doesn’t work…it won’t work for anyone on the east coast as hdhomerun’s feed is part west coast even there

We need a proper option for hdhomerun premium on the epg

If Plex could work to natively support Silicon Dust’s efforts in this area, that would be a HUGE homerun for them, not only for the current users, but also as an advertisement vehicle to onboard new users.

There’s a lot to be said about a unified space for entertainment. It’s the single feature I miss most about cutting the cord. There’s a great opportunity here for Plex to rock.

I imported the xmltv made from 123epg with Listings from my ota and sdust perfectly. However my only issue is that is seems sports are showing the same episodes for all showings. Looking at the xmltv it seems that other game listings are showing, however when imported there is only one subtitle and description for all. Researched for awhile and could not find a solution. I’ve deleted the dvr and have tried to tweak some settings from 123epg with no luck. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

Thanks!
