HDHR PTV Guides Seem to Be Available in Plex

Good news: It appears there are guides available for the East and West streams of PTV available in Plex now. I saw a post on the Plex subreddit that someone saw it when they used the zip-code 10001, but when I checked in Plex using my zip-code, they show up under cable providers.

Bad news: There seems to be no way to use your local OTA guide and these new PTV guides at the same time. I even tried adding a second HDHR to Plex – it will only use the first EPG you selected, with no way to change it.

Looks like we’re getting closer to native support for Plex, but not quite there. Hopefully they have this issue on their radar and can correct by at least allowing each tuner device to have their own EPG.

Yup, that’s a Plex thing. I’m basically using my regional Comcast cable guide which works for me because I’m on the west cost and it includes most (but not all) the local subchannels.

Hi. You don’t need to put zip code 10001.

I used my local zip code and it also displays both east/west of the hdhomerun premium guides.

Of course now that my premium subscription is over, I can’t test it.

but it is there on the list.

in fact there are a number of streaming channel guides listed, like direct tv now, hulu, youtube tv, sling tv, etc.

I hope this means that support for multiple guides (or adding multiple ‘dvrs’ to the same tuner is coming soon.

Looks this might be part of the Gracenote backend change that was being done. I know Plex knows this is an issue. You’re right – hopefully this means we’re closer to getting a fix for it.

fyi, if you want to test you should be able to install PMS on a different device (or virtual machine) and (re)add the dvr there.

my main pms on my nas, but I have a test pms on my desktop.

of course if you overload a tuner box with multiple clients, plex doesn’t really like that either.

but for testing purposes, you can experiment without messing around with your main pms/dvr settings.

Yeah, I did this today. It’s a no go. Plex will not let you use more than one EPG. Period.

really, hmm. that sucks, I thought being sneaky like that would work.

I didn’t try it before when I had the hdhrpremium going, since the hrp guide wasn’t around then.
