I last saw something asked in June about this and the indication at the time was that it is being worked on. I would love to have the ability to have multiple dvrs or guides setup in plex.
hardware: 2 hdhomerun primes, 1 connect quatro
It’d be great to have a dvr and guide for the primes and a separate one for the connect since I get channels OTA that have no cable channel to correlate with. Maybe assign a particular guide per device?
I haven’t (personally) seen any update on that feature since the thread in June so I thought I would ask when/if it is coming.
I have a second HTPC setup using different DVR software with an HDHomeRun Prime and two HDHomeRun Dual units (older white model) in OTA mode. The reality for me is that all OTA channels are duplicated or rebroadcast by my cable provider. In most cases local OTA broadcasts are carried by even basic cable package.
So for example, CBS affiliate channels are 002 (SD cable), 602 (HD cable), 2.1 (SD OTA) and I forget what HD OTA is.
Anyway, my point is a single inclusive guide should be able to handle it. Unless you’re referring to a single all inclusive guide that takes signal source info from more then one source (cable / OTA). In which case, yeah, that makes perfect sense,…
In such a case when you drill down to the specifics of a given scheduled recording in Plex DVR it should give you an option to choose a channel and that channel will determine SD, HD and channel number.
A full screen triditional guide would naturally help a great deal though,…
Many OTA channels here do not exist in the local cable guide. I’m forced to choose from one guide or the other for all devices currently and that just doesn’t work given the disparity of broadcast or cable sources available between homerun devices.
Still nothing on this? I have HDHomerun Quatro and Satellite Tuners, I can only select FTA or Sky so I lose channels depending on which I choose! also a nightmare sorting out the EPG as the channel numbers are all over the place if using thr FTA on Sky DVR!
I have been somewhat succesful in using “mc2xml” to download and merge three separate lineups that I subscribe to on Schedules Direct - then using an xmltv file to update the guide in Plex. It solves the multiple line-up issue for now, it seems, but not sure yet is a perfect solution as some of the meta data may be missing, and I have yet to figure how to get channel logo/icons on the grid guide like one gets when using the standard method - any one know how those may be added when using an xml-guide?
