Plex Player will not play 4K movie in HDR format if I change my audio setting to play AC3 5.1. What will happen is the movie will direct play, however the TV doesn’t switch to HDR and the movie will just be entirely dim.
If I change the audio setting back to TRUE HD then the TV will appear in HDR, but now the video is direct streaming and the audio is transcoding. I am using the TV’s internal speakers in this example.
The example, in this case, is Spider-Man: Far Away From Home, and here are some screenshots of the movie info.
