HDR not enabled when playing HDR content on Samsung TV

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 5.25.2 (platform version 5.5)
Model: Samsung Q80T

While most (although not all) HDR content is being played back and the Plex app saying its HDR content, the TV does not switch into HDR mode. Playing the same file via USB storage with the TVs video player the colors look a lot better, further suggesting that the Plex App is not doing something to tell the TV that its supposed to play in HDR mode. Maybe an API call missing or so?
Transcoding is disabled.

I have very similar experience with LG TV. Much of my HDR content is displayed but some times I get washed out colors and the message “this video needs to be converted”. If I disable encoding the video refuses to play. I’m really scratching my head with this one

I’m having the same problem. I thought that it was a problem with the TV. HDR content just looks really dark in fact so dark as to be unwatchable.

Is there some way of forcing HDR mode on the TV? I’m not convinced that I have ever seen HDR content on the TV. I wondered if it was all a bit of a con as I’ve never seen a picture that I think “Wow! That HDR is so much better than any picture I have seen on the TV before.”

Try to turn off subtitles

Not watching with subs.
The issue is that the TV needs to be told to switch into HDR mode, you can see even UI colors changing when it does that. This is not happening and needs to be addressed.
