HDR tonemapping issues on windows

Hi

I recently got a Plex pass and turned on hardware transcoding, and to my surprise, it worked fine with my old AMD APU for 1080P SDR content.

I have 4K and HDR content, too, so I got a Quadro P400 as it’s cheap, and single slot and can also do HDR tone mapping. I installed it, the drivers and changed to the 64-bit version of the server.

But it doesn’t always work for streaming.

It works for converting 4K SDR to 1080P or 4K HDR to 720P SDR.
It doesn’t work for converting 4K HDR to 1080P SDR, which is the main job I bought this card for.
Players I tried: Android phone and TV apps, web player (here transcoding doesn’t work at all), new windows client (here transcoding doesn’t work at all) and the old windows client (UWP app)(here transcoding doesn’t work at all, I get a playback failed to start on time error, but at least in the dashboard it shows that it’s trying to do transcoding)

I also tried optimizing some of the 4K HDR movies to 1080P SDR, and hardware acceleration works flawlessly in that case. In fact, it always worked so far for media optimization.

Does anyone else encounter a similar issue?

Did you change the quality setting while it was loading? I see PMS is given a playback request to direct play the file. Then the request changes to a quality of 12Mbps forcing a transcode. This part looks ok. Then there is another request to change to 4 Mbps. This change is odd. Did you do this?

I only made the request for 12Mbps. The 4Mbps selection wasn’t made by me.

Huh weird. Can you reproduce 1 more time just to make sure I’m seeing the right thing? Use the same file please. If possible, when nothing else is playing.

Oh sorry. Lost track. I can’t remember what I was looking for. Can you provide me a new log? Also, provide me the XML info for the video you played.

The log above from December does show PMS trying to use hardware tone mapping. Then it failed.
