It’s not a new format anymore, but widely used. It’s also not overly complex. This should be added. Most of my photos nowadays are HEIF.

Still waiting … and in the meantime converting photos 100 at a time with CopyTrans. Costing me CPU cycles and HDD space but damn I’m committed to stick with this program for some reason…

Why it is still not implemented?
Even can’t backup heic format photos, it being converted to JPEG, let it do backups at least.

3ish years ago I chose google photos over Plex Photos b/c Plex photos didn’t yet support Live Photos nor HEIC/HEVC.
Now google photos is ending free unlimited high res photos storage.
Please, we absolutely need these standards built into in Plex photos ASAP.
I’m a paying Plex pass user and would love to use Plex Photos rather than yet another 3rd party photo storage/backup solution. Thanks.

I got conned into buying the Plex Lifetime Membership. Still no HEIC or lyrics support. This software is a hot mess.
As a loyal life-time PLEX pass subscriber, please provide HEIF/HEIC support.

I’ve been using iCloud Photo Library (I’m only at around ~300GB of photos + videos), but I’m looking at migrating to photostructure.com (no affiliation) as that looks like the only decent self hosted photo solution.

+10 I switched to plexpass lifetime, and unfortunately I get more and more disappointed having done so…
I do not need crappy live TV shows from the US. I’d love to see better support for:
a) camera upload on modern phones
b) support for standard image formats like HEIC/HEIF
c) proper search filters for photos (broken since forever)
I even can’t use the latest Plex version because it BREAKS photo upload on iPhones!
