Live tv playback is not currently supported when connected to remote plex app … try with plex ios to chromecast.
Ok, just tried from my PC to cast to my Chromecast. For whatever reason, my Chromecast device isn’t showing up inside the Plex , but Plex on my Shield shows up. Weird, my Shield’s cast doesn’t even show. However, I can cast something I have recorded, and the cast icon shows up, but when I open live tv, the cast icon doesn’t show.

Limitations
There are some limitations when watching live TV currently:
Flinging or casting playback to another Plex app is not currently supported.

I agree. I think it’s false advertising. If you actually read carefully the paragraph in that first image withe Matt Damon in “The Martian”, you can clearly understand they mean Live TV, not just recorded tv. Seriously, “watch whatever you are viewing (that means it could be Live TV Streaming - IPTV) on your mobile device or computer on the bog screen.” And then the icing on the cake; “Just cue (Shouldn’t this be queue not cue?) up what you want (again, this implies it can be Live TV Streaming - IPTV) on your small screen, then cast it up to your big one.”
But let’s just use OTA Digital HDTV Signal live tv for a moment. I have a Hauppauge USB Dual HDTV Tuner. I have it attached to my Home Theater PC. I also have a Plex Server running on this computer. If I am watching a program on the TV this device is physically connected to, but my kids want to watch something else on their TV in the Playroom, they can’t do so with Plex. Ultimately I would want to not only have the ability to cast/fling my OTA Live TV but my IPTV content as well. This is also something we would be using when going to the Grandparents House so as not to monopolize the main big screen tv.
I’m not sure why this is an issue with Plex, especially since I have now seen that the EMBY Media Server will cast/sling Live TV/IPTV content without problem. Hence the reason I just spent $119 on a lifetime subscription with them instead of buying one at the end of my 3 Month Plex Pass, which I got when I bought my nVidia Shield. If this option were added back into Plex, and the Plex developers ever actually put in a decent working TV Guide similar to what someone like Dish Network uses, I would highly consider purchasing a lifetime Plex Pass as well.
@Plex? Are any of the Developers/Engineers monitoring this forum for comments? If so, I would LOVE to hear directly from one or more of y’all. Thanks for your time.
I left plex to emby for those same reasons.
The newest Plex for Android release (v6.15—coming soon!) will also bring the ability to fling local video files from your Android mobile to your TV via Chromecast (as well as other Plex player devices). If the video or audio format isn’t supported, not a problem! Plex for Android now supports on-the-fly transcoding, which is pretty incredible for a mobile phone.
And IOS app nothing ?!?!?
