Help! I had to change my PLEX Password. When I did, lost everything! WHY?

Hello all. First I want to say, this is my first time in any forum. So I have no idea what to give for information.

My system is:

  • QNAP TVS-671
  • Plex Pass
  • Plex Media Server 1.32.1

When I log in through my NAS and open Plex, My Watchlist is not working. My Discover is not working and my Server is gone.

I did not set this up and the person that did is MIA.

What do I need to do now. Yes I have no clue want to do.
Do I need to delete everything and reinstall?

Sounds like you might have opted to sign-out all devices in the process of changing your password. This will also sign-out your server.

There’s no need to re-install anything… you’ll just need to re-claim your server (=signing the server into your account). You should be able to do that by connecting to the server, using the bundled web app installed on the QNAP:

  1. make sure you’re on the same network as the QNAP!
  2. open http://[QNAP IP address]:32400/web (no hostnames, DynDNS…)
  3. open Settings and navigate to [Server Name] > General
  4. click Sign In at the center of that setting page

As a side note… you might want to upgrade your PMS (unrelated to this situation).
PMS 1.32.1 was released in spring 2023 and won’t be compatible with the upcoming new players.

Thank you tom80H for the information. You got me started and I was able to figure it out.
I also upgraded PMS to 1.41.5

Placing this thread as resolved.

Have a great day all!!
