Hi everyone, this is my first post so please be gentle!
I am hoping for some advice on running two servers please.
I recently installed Plex on my HP Microserver (running UnRaid) as a docker container.
The system works perfectly and I was delighted with it’s ability to catalog my files.
The only drawback was that the NAS struggled to play 1080p films without buffering so I decided to install the server on my main Windows PC too.
The problem with this solution is that I have to manage each machine separately. Both servers have the same folders in their libraries (and hence the same Films, TV and Music files) but the Plex servers seem to be unaware of each other. Is this by design or am I missing something.
As a result of this my ‘watched’ status does not update when I switch servers and whenever I add new content any changes I make to the metadata have to be done twice.
This is manageable for a simple library, but I would like to start using tags etc to prevent my kids seeing films which are too old for them (as the ratings have proved unreliable so far).
I am also scared that if I ever screw up my server install and have to reinstall it I will have to do everything again!
Can anyone advise me on ways to better manage this system. Is there a way I can ‘clone’ one server database onto another periodically.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards John.
