Can’t have both Movie and TV shows in the same structure. Need to separate them and keep that as a TV Show. With the new Collection feature you could easily create a collection combining all kids Movies and TV Shows to one collection. Might not be visible on most clients, yet, but will be with time.
Uhhh Peter can you tell me how to make collection? I can see that this is not working as i want when i have gone full “plex”
Check this blog post - https://www.plex.tv/blog/beginning-look-lot-like-collections/
But first as I said you need to read up on this - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/categories/200028098-Media-Preparation and follow the instructions regarding how to separate Movies and TV Shows.
If you are unsure how to name and organize your files there are tools that could help such as Filebot - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/191687/plex-naming-schemes-for-filebot/p1

I have been experimenting with collections over the last few days and they are much improved but I cannot see any way to have TV Shows and movies in the same collection. What am I missing?

You can only add a whole show into a collection, not single episodes or seasons.

My best experiment so far with this has been with Star Trek. If memory serves, I created a “Star Trek” collection in Movies, and then I created a “Star Trek” collection in TV Shows. When I went to double check my work, they cross referenced correctly.
I think it creates the collections separately across the libraries, and the database makes the connection if it matches a name.

Yes I know that but that is NOT what I asked. I tried a simple operation. I created a collection called “Bionic collection” containing all my Bionic Woman and Six Million Dollar Man movies. Then I went into my TV shows and selected the “Six Million Dollar Man” and “Bionic Woman” shows and hit the edit icon and went to collections and none of my “Movie” collections showed up so I created “Bionic collection” in TV shows.
When I look at either TV shows or Movies I see the collection for that type but they are not combined at all.

You did it right then.
The only explanation I have is that you might have a small difference in spelling between the two collection names.
Hmm i cant fint the opstion with collection any where
So how will you split this up? Cartoon and then have a movie and a tv show folder?

Forget the collections for now.
First you need to separate your content and get the basics right.
Remove all tv series out of your folder where your movies are.
Put them into a completely separate folder.
(This new ‘tv show’ folder must not be situated within your movies folder!)
Name the files and put them into a subfolder structure, as laid out in here:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows
Create a new library of the type ‘TV Shows’ and point it to your new folder with your tv shows.
Ahh dammit. Then i will have
Movies
Tv Shows
Cartoon
Cartoon tv shows
But that must bee the way.
