Help needed: Ghost in the machine (DS218+)

Server Version#: 1.21.0.3616
Player Version#:

Hi there, I hope this is the correct place to ask for help.

Since yesterday, I’m having trouble with my Plex Server on a DS218+.

Currently, it seems to work fine immediately after re-starting it, but then runs into trouble within minutes: Not able to save changes to the library, and unable to play media items.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the server, it seemed to work at first, until it didn’t.

Also, tried to download the logs, but I get a “500 Internal Server Error”.

Would appreciate guidance or pointing me to the correct item of the FAQs. Thanks!

You can manually collect the logs from the Plex data share on your Synology

From what you describe, there might be an issue with the database

Thank you for the quick answer, I think it lead me to the solution:

When going through the steps to retrieve the logs, I noticed that I had set the size of the shared folder for Plex to 20 GB, and that the folder was full to the brim.

I removed the limitation, and now Plex seems to be back to work as planned.

It probably also explains the on-and-off functionality: Whenever there was a bit of space, it worked; when the folder was full, it didn’t.

If any of the symptoms reappear, I’m going to post them here.
