Help needed please with remote access

Hi
Plex has been working fine for quite some time now with remote access apart from every 3 or four months i’ve had to change my secure connection settings from always to never.

Since the last update a few days ago i can no longer access plex outside of my network (works fine on the network at home)
I have tried the following things:

Re-setting router (factory re-set)
Re-setting access point (factory re-set)
Enabling port forwarding (followed the plex guide)
Disabling all firewalls
Uninstalling Plex app on android phone and re-installing
Repairing plex media server install files
Uninstalling plex media server and re-installing

Plex media server sees that my phone has connected but will not allow it access - on the phone is says server is Off line, and in the media server it says Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. Learn more

I’m at a loss - any ideas anybody?

Thanks

Please attach screenshots of routers portforwarding setting and pms remote access.
Also which OS are you using?

Hi, thanks for your response – ill be honest most of that has just gone over my head, shame someone can’t log in on my PC and sort it – lol

I’ll try to find the info out and get back

It should be real simple. Do you know how to setup port forwarding inside your router?

kind off – just allocate the port number (32400) on the router and turn it on in plex which i did try but didn’t work

There are actually 3 points I see where the problem might be:

  1. port is forwarded to a specific ip adress on your lan. You need to make sure the Plex server stays on that ip, either through DHCP reservation (on your router) or assigning static ip to the machine that run plex.
  2. setup of your router - make sure you are forwarding the port to the correct ip of the plex machine
  3. your provider - forwarding the port on your router is only half of the job, you may be double NATed (your router + your’s provider router) - you need to make sure that you either have public ip or neccesary port is forwarded on your provider side
