Plex outside of network question

Hello. I have windows server 2012 running with plex and when I click on remote access it enables for a few seconds then disables ? Should I just manually do it?

Have you setup port forwarding for PLEX?

I havent set up port forwarding. I just let it automatically connect but it’s not allowing me to.

Try this and see if it helps.

There are two ways to setup remote access.

UPNP which isn’t stable and requires no user setup.
Port forwarding which is stable and requires user setup.

Setup a port forwarding.

I think my firewall on my server is blocking outside networking I have to fix it and add plex to the exceptions.

I guess plex is added to my firewall as ok. I tried to port forward it and it still clicks off connection. Need help

Do you have the port forwarding setup on your router? You need to that as well since your router functions as a firewall.

Yes I have it setup.

Have screenshots of the router and Plex setup so we can see if something is missed?

I’ve also been reading alot of people have been having this issue it use to work fine automatically. Could it be the plex app update ? I have a VPN installed on my pc but it’s not active when I try to connect

I have IPVanish installed and it doesn’t cause any issues with the server on my pc but can be different with other brands. That is with it installed and not VPN not on.

Sometimes I go on the server and open plex media and its outside connection is green working but when i try to disable and then enable it never stays on. I did port forwarding port is set to 50000. I’m not shure what else to do. Would a ethernet card work. Maybe the server motherboard is so old it’s making problems it’s a x8dtl-if supermicro board using both ethernet ports 2gbps.
