Hi
I am a new user of Plexconnect on an ATV3 running 6.0.2. Got it run and setup smoothly after a few tries with the instructions on the Plexconnect wiki - so happy when it ran, this seems to be the best invention since toilet paper. Anyway, the problem is that after a day or two when I wanted to watch something on ATV through Plexconnect, the Trailers app lost the connection; got stuck in “Searching Trailers” forever up until it displayed that this is not available, even though it is running smotthly on my Macbook Pro ever since the install. Funny enough the ATV3’s internet connection of all other apps disappeared, too; only way to bring them back was to set the DNS from manual back to automatic.
So I re-installed the whole thing, reset ATV to its factory settings - worked successfully, kids watched a movie through Plexconnect. A few hours later I try the same thing and it disappears again, stuck in searching for trailers up until it loses connection. I reset the ATV again, now it won’t let me install the trailers.cer. This is really frustrating… It can’t be that I have to re-instal everything both on ATV3 and the Macbook daily to get this running… did anybody experiance something similar or could offer some advice?
Thanks a lot!
This happens to me from time to time when I bring my ATV out of sleep mode. What I do is select another application (ie, Movies), let it load so the internet connection gets reestablished (ie, play a purchased movie), and then go back to Trailers and it reloads fine. This seems to be a bug/feature of the Apple TV, and trailers/plexconnect wont reestablish the internet connection itself.
Or just don't have if sleep - it really does not draw much power.
App nap on your Mac?
Yes, if you are on Mavericks you may have to turn App Nap off for Python and PMS.

I will try to set the sleep timer of my ATV to “never” and see if that helps… first I have to figure out a way to get trailers.cer back on my ATV though, as it won’t let me do that right now. Maybe if I restart plexconnect that will help.
I will report back to let you know if this has been resolved… if anybody has other ideas I’m all ears. I’m running Lion, not Mavericks, by the way.
OK, leaving the ATV3 on kept plexconnect running since 24 hours now, definite improvement. What I still do have problems with is that sometimes it won’t load contect or the index, if I for instance switch from movies to TV shows it takes several tries to display the list & artwork, sometimes it just get stuck. Or movies stop playing randomly and need to be manually restarted. Any idea how to fix these last issues?
That sounds more like you have network issues than anything else.
What is your setup (devices/router/wired/wireless etc)?
