HELP! Plex keeps redirecting to the initial setup page - can't access web UI

The server runs but I can’t access Plex web - it always redirects to the ‘How Plex works’ screen and then tries to wait for the server to start before saying there is an error with my system.

I’m on Windows 10 and this is not the first time this has happened - it also happened a year or so ago. On that occasion I had to reinstall the server from scratch. I figured it was a random glitch but now it has happened again. I have just done a full re-install of Plex including clearing out all preferences and Plex keys from the registry. I managed to add a few libraries and then it happened again - I can’t access the web UI at all. What the hell. Does anyone know the cause? I found some old posts mentioning it but nothing recently.

How are you trying to access the server?

http://localhost:32400/web/

and

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/

Neither works.

The frustrating part is that I frequently get a glimpse of the web UI and my media before the 'How Plex Works" screen appears - it’s there I just can’t get at it. I can also access my media in the Plex app on iOS and Apple TV. I just can’t manage it or make any changes to my libraries because I can’t get into the webUI.

If I try proceeding and going through the setup. It just spins the loading for ages before reporting an error with my server.

open the browser using the IPaddress:32400 from the server if possible…
also you can try from the icon on the taskbar…

Open Plex…

I have finally managed to solve this. I purged Plex from my system again - uninstalled, cleared registry, deleted preferences. I then cleared my Brave browser cache. Finally, I then went through my online Plex account and removed everything from Authorised Devices. I then re-installed and so far it is behaving normally again.

I suspect there was some conflict between the current and a historic authorization of Plex web on my machine in Authorised Devices. I can’t be sure but given that the local machine was clean, I am pretty certain that clearing everything from there is what fixed the issue. I’m sharing this in case anyone else encounters the same problem - just delete everything from Authorised Devices. I suspect that I probably didn’t even need to delete my local Plex database.
