I had this same problem yesterday with the windows update - had to uninstall it. Note, however, that version 1.4.4 has an issue that causes Tivo Bolt and Tivo Minis not to work properly, so I had to stay with version 1.3.4.3285. Unless 1.4.4 has corrected the issues with Tivo, then moving to 1.4.4 will not be an option from some of us.

I will take a look this weekend and try the install of 1.4.4 with my Tivo setup.
Thank you. So you have actually tried it already and then rolled back?
Anyway - will wait for the outcome of your tests - please remember to ensure logging enabled for the Plex for Smart TV app and for the server. For the server if you do get problems with streaming, please enable both debug logging and verbose logging - see settings / server / general / show advanced. and always best to start a test after restarting the server

Okay. I updated to 1.5.0.3501. Everything seems to be working for the Tivos. I have not yet updated the patches from Microsoft. I wanted to first make sure that the Tivos were working properly. I will let the updates happen over the weekend and then update you again tomorrow or Sunday. Thanks.
Microsoft realized they mucked up in their infinite wisdom and quality testing - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4015438/windows-10-update-kb4015438
Latest MS patch āquality updateā for Win10 crashing released today 3/20 - my what a spin on the words ābug fixā
Itās not a bug, itās a quality.
I have just bought an LG OLED TV and tried to install Plex Media Server on my desktop, but it will not run, and neither is there any reference to the āAppDataā entry in the registry. Running Server 2008 R2 on my desktop, does Plex run on this?
I have been running āServiioā with 2 Sony TVās for years and that has been completely trouble free, and ājust worksā, which is all that is required.
Was really hoping that flakey software was a thing of the past, but reading the earlier post it is clearly very alive and kicking!

Nothing to do with the original post of this discussion. Thanks for the Necro of a Windows bug, NOT PLEX, even though Plex programmed a work-around 9 MONTHS ago, post having nothing to do with your own issue, then leave after deciding you donāt want to troubleshoot it.
I am new to plex, and not too computer savy. I am having major issues trying to get it started. all it is letting me watch is news. All i am reading above sounds really complicated and over my head. Any suggestions other than asking for a refund and deleting all of this crap? Really frustrated.

Did you download the Plex Media Server program through https://plex.tv/downloads and then run the downloaded file to install the program on a PC ?
I, too, am new to Plex. I have downloaded the latest Plex Media server. I ran the download. I get an installation progress box to watch. It completes and that is all that happens. Nothing opens up. There is nothing to log into or configure. Task Manager shows that there are some Plex processes running. When I go to Plex with my browser, it cannot find my server. Iāve uninstalled and re-installed a couple of times with no change. I, too, am completely frustrated. All the Plex help seems to say, sign into your Plex Media server. I canāt find anything to sign into.
Did you see Launch button on the setup dialogue box at the end of the install?
What are the process names in task manager?
I can see that you have a server that you setup 11 months ago. So if you installed latest version on that machine - it would already be signed in into plex.tv (using the account you used before)
I cannot see any local IP Address for your HBPC_1 server. Is your local network defined correctly within the true definition of Private Network subnets ? See Private network - Wikipedia
There should be some logs that you can locate and copy out and zip and attach
Default location is C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs
I presume this does not open up the server web client app ? http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
OK, so I am yet another person with this similar problem. Please explain what I should do as if I DO NOT have an IT degree⦠(Because I donāt).
Server fails to open
I can get on the media player (web based) fine, but Iāve added 5 new movies and their not showing up on plex, but on my seagate media server.
I did the HHKey look up, the extension isnāt thereā¦
Went to windows event viewer, nothing mentioning Plex at all
I looked at the plex logs, tons of debug lines, nothing that says error, or points to an invalid path.
Now what āexactlyā please break down EXACTLY what I need to do to get my Plex server back.
If I need to remap a drive or path, please explain that, and not just say ādo thatā⦠PLEASE?
Side note:
I recently upgraded my old HDD with an SSD. EVERYTHING works EXCEPT Plex Server.
Thanks.
Do you have multiple plex.tv accounts? One thing to check is that the Plex client apps eg Plex Web are signed in to the same plex.tv account as that the server is running with
On Plex Web, try this url in a browser http://10.0.0.98:32400/web
Does that find the server and the libraries ?
You can check what account is being used by clicking on the account icon (top right corner) and the account name Plex Web is signed into appears at the top.
If you have issues, get screenshot, detail of the issue and attach the zipped server logs
Suggest you do the test after restarting the server
My issue was a mapping one. After I replaced my hd with a ssd, my mapping was calling out plex as my z:drive. Once i assigned it to m:drive (my preference), and had plex look for it there, everything magically started working again. You guys should post a small instruction on how to do that, especially for those who have this problem after replacing hard drives and cloning over to a new drive.
This solved my problem! Iāve been using Plex going on 6 years now, and recently decided to put everything in a rack, when I did that I disconnected one of the SSDās I had been using for storing Plex data and caches of transcodes. Then the drive itself stopped working So, I uninstalled Plex, reinstalled. No launch. Attempted repair, nothing. Performed this simple regedit, fixed everything! Pointed Plex in the right direction on my system, now I can watch my media again in peace
