I know this has been talked about a few times but I can’t manage to get it working.
I used to just run the NordVPN app on the same device as my Plex server but recently I upgraded to an ER-X and UAP AC Lite which allowed me to set up my VPN at the router level, which I did.
Now Plex has stopped working when I connect it to my VPN SSID, I had a feeling that might happen and tried forwarding the ports and turning on remote access and only had some luck.
Something strange happened that I can’t quite figure out. When using a browser on another device to connect to Plex, it would initially be “unreachable” but after 5-10 seconds it would then connect. I thought that would be fine until I tried connecting via my Panasonic TV which is how I watch 99% of the time, this wouldn’t connect though and I got the unreachable error again no matter how many times I retry/reload.
I tried looking in the logs to identify the difference between using Plex via the VPN VLAN and just regular traffic and I identified this difference when using the VPN.
CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: short read
This occurs when using the VPN, then seems to retry and connects. Im guessing this is what causes the delay, but perhaps the TV app isn’t able to get past?
Does anyone know what I could try to fix this?
