Help troubleshooting error s1001 (Network)

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2852
Player Version#: 4.79.4

Hello,
I could use some help troubleshooting an error I’m receiving while trying to play media from my library. I recently installed plex on my Ubunutu server and completed the setup using the Plex web app. I can see all of my files, but cannot view the contents. Here’s a snapshot of the error I’m receiving:
s1001 error
The error looks slightly different in the logs:
“A critical Shaka error occurred: s1001 (Network)”
Full Logs attached:
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-04-20_17-17-55.zip (312.8 KB)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Are you using your own certificate or did you clone this installation from another host?

Thanks for the reply. I haven’t done anything with certificates on the server. Is one needed to successfully connect? The video tutorial I watched must’ve skipped that step :grinning:

Plex provides the certificate needed.

The error I showed is because the certificate presented is not what PMS was expecting for that host (it’s not PMS’s certificate)

I looked at your account. The certificate PMS expects was created yesterday for the “G******Home” server. (Make sense?)

Have you restarted the server and browsers since initial setup?

Yes, I’ve restarted both multiple times. Do you hve any ideas that I can do to get the correct certificate back on the server?

I reset the server’s certificate. (created a new one)

Please restart the servers and players which are connected to it after the server restarts

Hi again,

Thank you for all of the effort thus far. Unfortunately, after rebooting the server and browser/plex, I’m still recieving the same s1001 (Network) error. I was wondering if it could be permissions related, so I’ve been trying different settings within the directory.

Did you change password along the way?

This is bothering me a great deal.

Asking because the certificate is new/changed.

Have you done a simple restart of server and client(s)?

Yes, I’ve been restarting the server and plex application frequently. I did run a test earlier where I put the files into a different directory on the server (not my personal user’s directory where I’ve been trying: /home/user). The videos played briefly before I was hit with an insecure server error, the site went down, and I couldn’t reconnect. I’m going to work on this more when I get a chance.

Where did this come from? A TV?

Do you mean media?

Hi again,

I finally got everything playing correctly. The media is stored here:

/home/username/media/

The permissions in the username and media folders were set correctly, but I don’t theink they were set correcty in the home folder.
