I’m having an issue with the same movie which is in different libraries showing up wrong. I have is 2 different movies such as one being regular 1080p then I have one in 1080 3D even labeled that way in different locations (different drives) the problem is when I watch the original and stop, it will show the 3D version where the original is. is there a fix or is this a glitch in the system.
The movies are named different from the start when I rip the movie from the original disc. The continue watching videos are as follow Flow one, Flow one 4k, and Flow one 3D all at the same time when I was watching the 4k one.
I’m thinking I may have to change the format of the second and third copy of the movies to different formats other then mp4 or is there another way.
I have had plex for 3 years 2 of which are plex pass, I love it short of the small hidden issue I run into. I have just purchased a LG 4k LG TV and I’m tiring to add other material

If you have two files with the same name then Plex will ‘group’ those files and it will usually play one file after the other. Those files can be identified by a number shown in the top right corner of the poster. You can split those files apart by clicking on the poster (not on an icon though) and then click on the … menu (top right of screen) and select ‘split apart’
Once the files are split, give them unique names. Make sure the padlock icon turns orange beside the title field and click on save changes to stop Plex from changing things back again.
It is also wise to try matching each file using a different agent. To do that, again click on the files poster, then click on … and select ‘fix incorrect match’. In the search dialogue, click on search options (top left) and match the first file using Plex Movie. For the second file, use The Movie Database.
Be aware that getting a match with The Movie Database can be a little tricky and you may have to try several times. Plex Movie normally returns 100% matches, while the Movie Database will return 90% matches.
By doing that, each file will have a different ID number in the Plex database and that will stop Plex from grouping the files together again.

Your video files should be named in a similar manner to this:Jaws (1975).mp4
Jaws (1975) - 4K.mp4
Jaws (1975) - 3D SBS.mp4When you add these files to your library, Plex will group them together under one entry in your library. Go to that entry in the library (you will notice a number on the poster in the top right corner, in this case it will be 3 to indicate that there are 3 files in the group).
Click on the poster to enter the pre-play page, then on the top right of screen, click on the … menu and select ‘split apart’. Now go back to your Movies library page (click on the name of your library, left of screen).
Now you will have 3 separate entries in your library, all named Jaws and all with the same poster.
Move the mouse over the poster of each entry in the library and click on the ‘pencil’ icon, then on the left of the edit dialogue that opens, click on ‘info’ and check which file you are editing. Armed with that information, click on ‘General’ and edit the title of this file. EG: Jaws - 4K. Click on save changes at the bottom of the edit dialogue and then close the dialogue.
When you have done that for all 3 files, you should have 3 separate entries in your library named Jaws, Jaws - 4K and Jaws - 3D SBS. Now, selecting any of these files to play, will play that file only.
The movies are completely different here is a picture
The main file is on a different hard drive drive from the 4k and 3d type and those two are in different folders…(Each file is named different on the hard drive
I got it to work it, had to trick the database. the original movie is matched through plex movie and the 3D one is matched through The Movie Database. as for the files being in the same location, I have a friend who uses a PS3 (slow scroll on movies). So I separated the movies to make the libraries smaller and faster to scroll through. Not to mention a lot easier to find something. The 4K is not full 4K just what DVDFab can do to upscale from standard blue ray to 3840x1608 h264 mp4. I may use the upscale version for standard as the server has enough strength. thank you
