Help with Series and Episodes Naming

Server Version#: 1.17.0.1709
Player Version#: 4.8.3

I noticed an issue and I’m kinda new to Plex so I don’t know if its common and or how to resolve it.
For a lot of the TV Shows I uploaded into my Plex Server (Hosted on my WD MycloudPR4100) I have uploaded shows in the following format for example.
Friends - s03e01-e7
Now in my Plex Library it shows all episodes as independent 1 thru 7. If I try playing episode 1 it will play and continue to play. But if I say I want to start at Episode 2 I cant simply select episode 2. If I do try to play by selecting episode 2 it actually starts me at 1 again. In order to see just episode 2 I have to start Episode 1 and fast forward till I notice its episode 2. Any workaround for this?

Thanks and I look forward to any and all feedback

Multiple episodes per file are working exactly as you describe.
I recommend you to either
rename that to Friends - s03e01
and edit the episode description later to include the information that this is actually all 7 episodes

or

What Otto said…

What I say:
You ripped that huge file (all the episodes) instead of each one individually and now you’re paying the price.

In the future - don’t do that.

If you can run FileBot you can easily get the TVDB listing by ‘Pre-Naming’:
friends - the one with the baby shower
friends - the one with the baseball bat and Rachel’s Head <—ok, I made that up
and FileBot will happily go to TVDB and get the episode info and create the correct file name.

If you can’t use FileBot - that’s a shame. The process will be a lot slower than it was for me (and I can say without fear my way is way better than any other way):

Thank you both,
I’ll have to see what FileBot does and also see if MKVtoolnixGUI could help.
